I have the same issue. I do have a cream for after, but nothing to save me first.

I wear loose yoga capri shorts (or long shorts, however you want to call it) otherwise my shorts ride up in between my legs because of my thigh fat. This helps prevent the skin from touching.

I bought leggings, there comfortable, and keep me cool, and my legs don't rub together! I got mine at Walmart they are like 13$ and only go up to 2x, which is what I have. That works for me :) if you don't like those, you can try spandex under your jogging shorts. :glasses:

I use baby powder! =D and I'm not really shy or care about what people might think, so I'll take my Mini baby powder out and apply it if I feel it bothering me LOL I've heard there's actually stuff out there for joggers that you can apply, but baby powder is so much cheaper! ;) Good luck!

I have a cream called "Lanacane anti-chafing gel".
It works amazingly well. I didnt expect it, it doesnt feel gooy or sticky or wet, it drys into a film and then ...no chafing. Awesome.

Change what your wearing, both as underwear and as running shorts. Look into Under Armour products. They make some good underwear thats meant for running.

I've seen anti-chafing sticks/gels sold at running shops. I have yet to try it though.

There are plenty of remedies about but the best product to use is called Glide. It's found in sporting goods stores, REI, Running specialty stores etc. Excellent product!

wear tighty bike shorts under your regular shorts. They work like a CHARM! Walmart actually has a decent workout clothing section and a nice selection of compression type shorts. Check it out!

Spandex! I know I know but seriously, the tight fitting layer under your regular clothes will make a world of difference. Also Monastat makes a cream that works like a silicone lube. You rub it on the insides of your thighs and it reduces the friction. I used it a lot when I was at my heaviest- especially in the summer. Just keep walking, biking, swimming anything you can and that really will go away. (it may be one of the last things but it will go away.)

You can buy a product called "Body Glide" at any running store. It comes in a deodorant shaped tube and it's like vasoline but in a firmer consistency. You rub it on all the spots that chafe, such as inner thighs, under the breasts, arm pits, etc before you exercise and it prevents chafing. It works wonders! Good luck!

The lanacane (sp?) anti-chafing gel works well, as does Glide, sold in running stores. Good luck! :flowerforyou:

If you hit up a store with specialty workout clothes like a Nike or REI they have running/jogging pants/capris that I use -- as a guy you probably don't want to wear just walmart leggings but I've seen guys in the ones from Nike and they look good (hot) -- and actually I look awesome in mine whereas every other pair of cheaper ones I tried on I looked...fat.

Not that it really matters but it kind of makes me feel better since I'm working out where people can see me

Solid deodorant applied beforehand works well. Or bike shorts.

I like under armour products. The compression shorts have 9" legs and I've never had any problems when I wear them. I either wear sweats or shorts over them.

At Walmart (yes tameko2 Walmart), they sell Starter brand compression shorts for $12. I just bought a pair for my husband today. He ran 5 miles in them at the gym tonight with no issues.

They absorb moisture and they are anti-microbial. heck... they are even reflective! They come in black, gray, blue or white. :)

No need to snipe, I'm not dissing walmart, I just don't shop there because there isn't one convenient to me (Yeah I know it sounds weird, but its true - I actually have to make a special trip to go to a walmart) and I hated the fit and look of everything at the sporting goods store and target - so I ended up dropping cash at the Nike store. I am so freaking ridiculously happy with how I look in them that it ended up being worth it to me, but I also am in a good financial situation overall so it wasn't a major hardship.

I would have hit the TJ maxx but I only had a lunch hour to shop in. Just sayin - they do look fantastic on everyone and when you're waddling along in the park next to the skinny runners that's a nice to have.

I have the same problem. I wore loose shorts and I created a fire!!! Boy did that hurt!!! This happens when I would run and when I went to the water park...(oh course the chlorine didn't help either!!!) I ended up walking like I was about the give birth! I have since worn bike shorts and I put vaseline on the inside on both my thighs. Works wonders for me! NO fire!! Hopefully as I lose weight I will create some space inbetween these thunderthighs! Good luck to you!

I am no fan or walmart, trust me... I just ended up there today because I needed some bathroom cleaning products. Lysol is Lysol, no matter where you buy it! lol anyways I was SHOCKED by the variety/quality of the mens workout clothes there. (Fruit of the Loom muscle shirts for $4.77! O.O) The girls workout section? not so much....

So, if zachary is just looking for options, it's a great way to try it out before committing $30 on a pair of Nike shorts. ya know?

I double up. Under Armour 9" shorts with baby powder. I need it for anything over 8 miles. Just make sure of the color band you get. The blue ones are for cold weather I think, while the red band ones are for summer.

Another vote for Body Glide from REI I haven't found anything else that works as well.
I'm a sweater and baby powder + profuse sweat = paste. Sorry for that image, I just grossed myself out.

My husband uses Body Glide, it looks like a deodorant stick but it's made to prevent chafing. He uses it on his long runs or anything over 10 miles.
