For those who have lost weight and are now finding their wedding rings/engagement rings are too loose....what have you done? (especially if you are in between your start weight and your end weight goal and you do not want to spend money every ten pounds to have it resized).

I'm having the same problem with my engagement ring right now--I'm going to go to Wal Mart this week and buy the little ring spacer things...it's like a clear plastic thing that slips over the back of your ring and makes it tighter over your finger.

they make little plastic things, usually called ring snuggies that you can slip on the band and take up the extra space :)
  • I wear ring guards inside mine. You can get metal ones from jewellery shops but I got some plastic ones (just tubes of plastic that slip over the band. I'm in the UK but if you google ring guards you will find some near you I am sure.

If you intend to get it resized eventually then I'd recommend spacers until you think you are at the correct size. However as someone who works in a jewellery store I'd suggest getting a quote. Some rings cannot be resized. Wedding bands should be fine but if there are stones on the ring they may not be able to be done. Also prices generally vary on how many sizes. At where I work sizing a ring two sizes i fairly cheap but anything over 2 gets expensive, so possibly going 2 at a time would even be cheaper!

I'm just wearing mine on a different finger until I reach my goal weight, then I'll get it resized. It feels very odd though!

All good advice so far but for a free alternative, my mum used to wrap some yarn around the underside to take up the slack.

My grandmother used a bandaid.

My rings are super inexpensive since I don't like to spend much on jewelry. It will cheaper for me to buy new ones.

I got a ring guard on mine and it fits great again. When I get to my goal weight, I will get it sized. I will not get it sized until I am at exactly the body size that I am aiming for.

I am using micropore tape on mine just to fill it out. Unfortunately my wedding ring can't be made smaller due to the design of it so when I get to target, hubby said he would get me a new one.

since losing weight i havent been able to wear my wedding ring. havent worn it in nearly a year now after it fell off once and i almost lost it. its safely at home now but would consider getting it re-sized when i get to my goal weight.

Haven't been able to wear my "original" engagement/wedding rings for about 2 years now. Once they fell off and I nearly lost them so hubby bought me a new white gold set.

Thanks so much guys! I will definitely look into those ring spacers. I didn't even know they made such things. :-D The yarn, bandaid and masking tape all sound good too. :-) I'll check out my options and see what works best. :-D
