I think way too far into things like I just need to know that any amount of weight I lose is better than nothing. I feel like if I don't get to exactly a certain weight in an exact certain time, I'm a failure :(

    No your not a failure. Just keep positive I think that is the key to losing weight. Dont listen to negative comments from others and keep up with your mfp buddies you will get the motivation you need that way. Keep your chin up it will get better:)

    Try looking longer term. I use the grahps here (and excel graphs) to show my weight / etc. movement over time.

    What I see if I look too closely (daily values) my weight goes up and down. Over longer periods (monthly) my weight drops (if I am being good). In monitoring weight I only look at the last value recorded for the month (and that gives you time to get back on track). I know it is hard to get on track sometimes, but there is a lot of positive motivation here that can help.

    Also I have heard that peoples results in diet / weight / etc goes up and down in cycles. Sometimes it is hard to get anywhere, then al of a sudden you get a kick on an it all falls into place. You just have to realise this to get over the times when you are not getting where you would have liked to.

    The only way to really make it work is to be honest with yourself. If you track everything you should know where you can imporve and your results will come.
