Marian Keyes is a really good author. They are more what I would refer to as 'chick lit' but are very enjoyable reads, especially this time of year if you want something interesting but humorous. My absolute favourite is 'Rachel's Holiday' - the author suffers from depression and is a recovering alcoholic - she's got a somewhat dark, often hilarious way of looking at things. I laugh out loud when I read her, as I identify with the characters so much.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions - I see quite a few that look good!

Oh another good one is Family Matters by Rohinton Mistry. He also wrote A Fine Balance - both are excellent.

I'm reading 'The Joke's Over' by Ralph Steadman. It's about his times with Hunter S. Thompson and it's fantastic. Particularly if you're a fan of HST.

ANY Jodi Picoult book is a winner.. I've read almost all of them and have loved most of them. The Tenth Circle was a quick read and I REALLY enjoyed it!
