So Tired!

I've recently dropped my calorie intake to 1200 calories. Generally I don't always hit that, but I try and get as close as possible. The thing is, I'm finding that I'm getting very tired by mid afternoon and whenever I get tired, I get grumpy which isn't great when in work! I'm making sure I get enough sleep so that isn't the problem. I'm not sure if this is my body just trying to adjust to the lower calorie intake or if I'm doing something wrong. Any input as to what's going on or how I can stop myelf from being so tired? It's driving me crazy!

that happened to me a bit when i first lowered my calorie intake. personally, i've learned that if you have more than 50lbs to lose, you shouldn't lower your calories to 1200 until you're at about 25-30lbs to go. it's a huge shock to your system. so, i'd raise your calories to maybe 1500 a day and look closely if you're eating too much sugar or carbs. eat lots and lots of veggies!!! good luck :)

Maybe that calorie intake is too low for you. Listen to your body...

Have a small protein snack (such as almonds or walnuts) early afternoon before you hit that slump and see if that helps carry you through. That will boost your calorie intake a bit, too, which you probably need at this stage.
  • Thanks guys :) Maybe I have set my calorie limit a bit low to begin with. I'm just so determined to get results! I'll raise my intake a little bit and see how I'm feeling then.

I was on the 1200 too for awhile, and it was just TOO hard! You should go up to at least 1400, it's way more reasonable. Plus is you fit a good workout into your routine, you can eat a little extra of those calories back.
