Ok people, ya'll know who you are. you're the ones posting things like:

"I Support Cancer research. Post this one your wall for an hour if you want cancer to be cured. If you don't post this, you deserve to get cancer. Show your in support by posting this and emailing it to your entire friends list!"

Noble cause. I get it. Cancer, MS, HIV, Leukemia, Prostate Cancer, Herpes, Hepatitis, Ect need to be cured.

HOWEVER: Posting that on your wall to annoy all your friends doesn't help! If you really want to help, put your money where your mouth is and donate to a medical research non-profit org. Just donate $1, or $5 or whatever. But please, don't post it on your status, as thats just a "feel good" solution that doesn't actually help!

A agree... lol its fine to say post if you support cancer, but to tell me that I will have bad luck, or that my cat will die if I don't post is just stupid. =)

    I AGREE!!!

Take that noble-taking-up-space-on-my-feed-I-support-my-own-causes-in-my-own-way-raising-awareness-but-not-really-accomplishing-anything-jargon to FACEBOOK! :-D

I think its to have others be aware of a certain "cause" that might be going on...especially if it was a close loved one they lost. My friend lost her mother to breast cancer and always share about breast cancer awareness, marathons that might be going on, etc. I don't find it annoying, just informative.

LOL That's it exactly. It's the chain letter for 2011.

To SarahofTwins - I hear what you're saying. I'm glad it doesn't annoy you. I guess I'm just not that campassionate - I DO find it annoying and not informative in the least. An exception for me is recent loss and a memorial post - I get that. But I hate seeing the more generic "post this for everyone suffering from X." They've got support groups for that - and I'm not one of them.

If it's informative, bring it on. I'm fine with that.
But if it's to insult, judge or criticize people for NOT doing it, keep it off my wall.

It depends on what they say, but I don't find them informative either. Who doesn't know that breast cancer exists? Or most of the things that end up getting posted about? To me, they don't actually seem to be getting the word out about anything that everyone doesn't already know about.
