Okay so I bought a box of Movie theater butter microwave popcorn. It says for 1 cup POPPED it's only 35 calories and for 2 tbsp unpopped its 160 calories...are there people out there that actually eat kernals? lol

Some people are weighers and weigh everything (uncooked) before they eat it.0

Uhmmmmm... I've been known to eat the unpopped kernels after the popcorn has been popped.0
-
MY favorites are actually the half popped kernels...they're so crunchy!0

I LOVE microwave popcorn.....the lowest calorie stuff I've found is the 94% fat free....which is only 15 calories per popped cup!0

I've always wondered that too. It's weird how that works.0 -

I eat a bag for lunch on Sundays.0

You can buy mini bags that are 100 calories flat. Its a lot less confusing0

I just went through this same debate in my mind the other night that I had popcorn... I think it's just that when you fill up a "cup" of popped popcorn, it is less kernels than what would fill the unpopped portion in tablespoons.... crazy though!!0

Ohh... I'm going to get the 15 cal per cup popcorn!!! I have stayed away from popcorn because I could seriously eat a whole bag in one sitting... :blushing:0

I believe they mean a cup of popped, pop corn. and 2 tablespoons of kernals is 160, before popping.0

I saw a news/info tidbit on TV this past weekend that some brands of microwavable popcorn use a certain chemical to line the bags which can cause cancer.
I know, we've heard this all before when it comes to pop and other diet foods but the chemical does not have to be disclosed so you don't know which brands are safe.
It pointed out how you can make your own microwavable popcorn by putting kernels and a 1 tsp of oil (40 cals) in a paper bag, folding over then popping as usual. I bet this way would only cost you pennies per bag too!0 -

Let me just say that this piece of information was the contributing factor to the death of two microwaves and my not being allowed to make popcorn.
Enough said.

We do it on the stove the old fashioned way with
Olive oil and salt. It is so good.
I find microwave popcorn too dry.
It is also bad for you, just saying.
Popcorn is loaded with fiber, a good snack.0
