Is it a snack or part of a meal?

How much time needs to go by before I consider something I ate a standalone "snack" versus a meal?
For example, I'm starving when I get home from work so I grab some veggies and dip as I prepare dinner. Forty-five minutes later I am eating dinner. Do I consider my veggies & dip to be a snack or are they part of my dinner?
Anyone have thoughts or knowledge about this?

I dont think what you consider them matter as long as you log them in and those calories are accounted for.0

maybe you need to rearrange you food diary to have 6 meals a day . I just lump everything that i dont eat at breakfast, lunch, and dinner as a snack. but i might change it up, small meals are better than 3 big ones.0

I can't imagine why it would matter at all.0

I had a problem figuring out where to log foods (meal/snack), so I rearranged my log like this:
6a-10a
10a-2p
2p-6p
6p-10p
10p-6a
My work schedule varies a lot, so no matter what time it is, I know where to put my lunch and everything else. It's also nice to look back and see which time frame I'm eating the majority of my calories.0 -
Just track it. That's all that should matter, really.0

Doesn't matter. As long as you're eating when you're hungry and not eating too much at one time, it's up to you. When I categorized my meals and snacks, I just dispersed the calories reasonably. (Now I have everything in time blocks).0

It honestly doesn't matter.
As long as it's all accounted for, you know? Sometimes I'm still hungry 30 minutes after a meal, so I eat some yogurt or a piece of fruit. Sometimes it gets logged as a part of the meal, sometimes as a snack. Doesn't make a difference at all.

You have the option to customize your meal and snack names - in Food > Settings > Meal Names.
I think it's helpful to count them as snacks if you want to use the "Copy Meal" feature to copy the meal to another day without including the snack.0 -

I agree. I have before dinner snacks....like 20 min prior and sometimes I'll eat fruit immediately after dinner and call that a snack as well. So really as long as it's within your calories it doesn't matter.
If I ate a salad before dinner I would call that part of my dinner but I log it exactly the same way so it's makes no difference.0
