Pedometer Recommendation

I need advice on pedometers, and please do not point me in the direction of a HRM. This is for my mother, who is rehabilitating after undergoing serious back surgery. She is to be walking outside and needs to measure her distance. HR and calories burned are not important. Thanks for your advice!
