My "sugar" intake on my calorie counter is always high, but most of what I consume is natural sugar, as in fruits or veggies or dairy products. (I do have an occasional treat, but it's not every day.) Anyone know if the recommended 40 grams per 2,000 calories includes natural sugars?

I personally do not count natural sugar, just added sugar. I've lost 25 lbs.(131lbs - 106lbs) and have eaten a ton of fruit. I think it's better to grab a piece of fruit than a piece of cake. Fruit contains so many great benefits, one being that they fight free radicals which is detrimental to your body! There are some fruit that are lower in sugar than others, if you are worried about your sugar intake, just choose the fruit with the lowest sugar content. Never feel guilty about eating fruit :~)

    Good luck!

I found that by making minor adjustments I could enjoy my natural sugars and stay under. For example I switched to unsweetened almond milk, go for sorbets over creamy desserts and make my beans from scratch. Doing little things like that has helped me stay under all my numbers. At the most I rarely go into the number digits on the times I do go over. The thing is you have to choose. If you want that treat are you willing to forgo the fruit? Are you willing to give up the dairy? It's a balancing act.
