Holiday this weekend! Food, food everywhere!

Ok, it's the 4th of July weekend and for my family this means a 4 day weekend. My kids are young and we live near the beach so this is a pretty major holiday for us. I know my husband and kids want all the traditional foods over the 4 days including hamburgers, hotdogs, watermelon, BBQ (ribs and pork shoulder probably) and all the extras....plus snacks at the pool and beach such as chips, desserts, margaritas, etc, etc. Of course I can bring healthy snacks and make special food for me but I will be making this stuff too and it will go on for 4 DAYS!
Since I started this I have not bought or prepared any "bad" foods or been faced with a holiday. It's not as simple as trying to scale down fat in the food we make...I do that already. I don't think I can get away with hiding in my bathroom with a protein shake during meals so I am going to need some kind of secret weapon or something to get through this without gaining. ARGH!
Who's got the secret weapon or tip for me?????

Portion control portion control portion control. Take a BIG serving of fruit and veggies and a small serving of a couple of the other things. That way you aren't depriving yourself but you're not overindulging either.0

i'd say get into the spirit of things without over-indulging crazy style. 4 days is neither here nor there as you seem very motivated!! have a great holiday!0

There are a few things. LOTS of fruits and veggies, like already mentioned... Also, low cal/low carb buns (try thin buns), super lean ground beef and turkey dogs... all the taste and a lot LESS unhealthy. Baked chips instead of fried. It's still going to be a bad weekend food-wise I'm sure... but a few of these substitutions can make it a little less bad... lol0

Hamburgers: eat with lots of lettuce and tomato...ditch the top bun if you can stand to do so
Hotdogs: try turkey dogs with just mustard or ketchup. no relish.
BBQ: try replacing ribs and pork with chicken, if your fam will let you get away with it
Watermelon: enjoy as much as you like
Margaritas: try Baja Bob's margarita mix--0 calories
Remember to drink LOTS of water! Most of all, have fun. One weekend won't kill you.

Exactly! Portion control is how I have made it through vacation and holidays!0 -
I second everyone else's suggestion.
Don't let it get you down if you go over on calories. Enjoy yourself. This isn't an everyday event.0
