Hey everyone just figured id include myself in the introduction section. My name is Heather and im from Columbus, OH. i guess i can start with my stats so you get a better picture of what im trying to do. Im 24 years old, 5'8" 164 pounds. I never really had much of a weight problem until after high school and then i packed on the pounds all at once. I went to the Gynocologist for my annual checkup and my doctor said "how did you gain 30 pounds this year? thats way too much you need to start watching that." when she said this i was so confused. i had never watched my weight before, never stepped on a scale, never counted calories and so i replied, "i do eat good" she aske me what i ate which at the time was pretty much the same thing everyday because i had an addiction to Burger King:

a double cheeseburger meal large
with a fry
with a coke
with an apple pie

unknowingly i had been eating about 3 times my caloric intake a day in just one meal simply because i had no clue about what calories even were or why i shouldn't be eating as many or as crappy a calories as i was. which brings me to my next point. i really am happy that our government is focusing more and more on educating our children on what is right to eat. i think it's needed in this day and age just because i can only remember seeing the food pyrimid maybe one time. then when i got to high school they changed the food pyrimid to vertical stripes in a triangle, now they changed it again to a plate. how about instead of having a simple picture to look at we just give a whole class on what you should and shouldn't put in your body and why. or why you need to watch the amount of calories and the quality of the calories you intake. if sexual health is a focus in schools the dietary health should be too and while ive never been overweight, although my BMI scale will tell you that i am, i do understand how children can get into an unhealthy eating habit. or how children that are thin can grow up to gain weight as adults because they simply dont know what to eat.

another peice to my weight gain puzzle is that i take the birth control depo provera which gives me a huge and i mean HUGE appetite. im really never fully satified. i started taking this medication at the age of 17 which might explain another reason for weight gain right out of high school. I was actually around 175 pounds last year during the holidays and happened to be working at a gym where i got free personal training. i dropped down to 155 pounds for my wedding in january and then gained 10 back since then. eaither way my goal is 155 pounds which ive been to before and im sure i can make again. when i was 155 at my wedding and felt great! myfitness pal is my new tool for keeping on track but ive done this before and am sure without a doubt i can do it again :) id also love to give anyone else advice if they need any :D
