Take LOTS of vitamins!! Have you ever seen the DVD called FOOD MATTERS??... It's all about the importance of getting all your vitamins from healthy foods and staying healthy thru vitamins and food ALONE- no pharmasutical(sp) medicines. It is INCREDIBLY GOOD!! Plus you can NOT Over Dose on vitamins.... You can OD on Iron but you have to take like a bottle of iron!... It is one of the BEST movies I have ever seen!! Yes- it is a documentary but it's not boring and you will be SHOCKED at all the information kept hidden from the public about our health care system, meds, foods etc..... Like, did you know doctors are trained to treat the SYMPTOMS....not the actual problem.... Doctors are not trained hardly at all/ if at all in nutrition.... Diet, nutrition...vitamins play the BIGGEST role in our health!! A doctor may say to take A multi-vitamin....but you CAN take more! I certainly do am I am hardly ever sick.... I usually just get some allergies one or two times a year at spring and Fall and that is it....& I have two kids in school so you'd think that I'd constantly be sick from what they're around?... If you take, like one or two multi vitamins a day remember that your stomach acid is actually going to destroy a lot of that vitamin before it ever gets into your system. Also if you take a vitamin and get a headache or feel sick....go eat and it will go away... Also when you first start taking 2-3 vitamins a day all the nutrients are going to start kicking all the bad stuff in your system's Butt so you may not feel better right at first!! Like they will basically be detoxifing your system and getting rid of all the bad junk in your body from bad foods, pollution you breath in, medications etc.... It goes away tho and you will feel great.

Vitamins are the trustest medicine and superfood!! Dr. Gerson spent YEARS on a book about this! Google his research.

I take Alive! Women's Energy Multi-vitamin mineral with added fruit and vegetable supplement. You can get them anywhere-mine are from Wal-Mart. I try to take them 2 times a day along with other supplements like 1000mg Vitamin C and a B-Complex vitamin.

    You can overdose on any fat soluble vitamin including but not limited to Vitamins A,D,E
    You can overdose on many minerals also, such as copper

    Are you referring to Dr. Max Gerson? His practices are not condoned by any major medical body.

    Thanks for the movie info! I just watched the trailer and it looks amazing so I added it to my instant queue on Netflix. Hopefully I can watch it tonight!

    Interesting information too however, you actually can overdose on some vitamins.

    I see and understand both of your perspectives. There are parts of orthomolecular medicine that make sense, and some that don't. Check this out:

    Do I think most vitamins will hurt you? No. Should you take more of them? Yes.

    Can taking too much hurt you? Yes. Food matters is wrong on that. There are vitamin poison cases for most fat soluble vitamins. And for niacin.

    As for most medical bodies not accepting the work - well, almost no doctors go through any formal nutritional training so it doesn't make a lot of sense that their peer-review would pertain very much. Nutritionists, maybe. But your average MD doesn't know the difference between a calorie and a kilocalorie - its not their job to.

    Remember, western medicine is fairly new, and based entirely on the doctrine of "one disease, one cure". That's why you see people taking 25 different medications. As an engineer, when I see 25 things break it doesn't tell me that 25 things broke - it tells me that something went wrong that manifests itself as 25 things breaking.

    Eastern medicine has relied on diet for close to 10000 years and they seem to be getting along just fine, with lower incidents of many diseases that plague western society. Their medicine does focus a lot more on stress reduction, balanced eating, and nutrition than ours. Garbage in, garbage out.

    You can drown yourself by drinking too much water too.....but seldom to people really ever drink enough water to begin with so it's few and very far between you hear of this. Instead you hear people saying drink more water drink more water....

    Modern Medicine has hurt a LOT more people than take a lot of vitamins.... People mixing anti-depressants, diet drugs, blood pressure medicines, anxiety medicines, etc....you don't know what all the different mixtures can do to your body and some can be fatal. You don't hear much about too many vitamins causing all these afwul problems on the news like you do prescription and OTC medicines. People don't get even the daily recommended amounts of the vitamins they need from their foods usually so they need to add vitamins. Processed foods (majority of American diet it seems) is stripped of all its good nutrition long before we ever eat it. Plus, Vitamins in pill form are not all absorbed like you think they would be.... So I make sure and take at least two multis a day.
    Since I learned about Dr Gerson I also upped my Multi-B vitamins and QUIT COLD TURKEY my anti-depressants. I was on them for 10 years too. I feel better from just upping my vitamins than when I was on anti-depresasnts!

    If there are vitamins your body gets and doesn't need it will flush them out.

    there are things inaccurate about this information too.

    First off the Pharmasutical industry is HUGE....they have trillians of $$$ and they're people control what is published by the FDA and heck even poloiticians campaigns are funded by them so they will get their way and not have to worry about new bills limiting what they do. So of course all the evidence that proves the vitamin therapy works is hidden and hard to find because they don't want it published. If people knew that they could take more of this and that vitamins to feel better people wouldn't be relying on prescription drugs to feel better.....That means they'd have a BIG profit loss...... They don't want that...so all the proof that they say isn't there is a BIG lie.

    Second....if people are truly testing the theory they need to follow the vitamin intake and the DIET change exactly! We eat foods covered in pesticides, plants with their genes changed to withstand different chemicals, meats injected with horomones and steroids, perservatives, etc.....All that science we are eating day to day is what is causeing all these problems.... Before the over growth of fast foods etc people with bad health problems were few and far between. So the hardest step is the diet change. Only eating fresh ORGANIC foods....things not covered in preservatives..... Eat the fresh healthy diet along with upping the vitamins you need and you can heal yourself. Your body can heal itself....the pharmasutical company only treats the symptom to the problem.

    Ok- well I'm out of typing breath arguing PRO- Vitamins.... This last post is to merely say the the FDA and government lie to you cuz they're paid to by the big pharmasutical companies. The junk foods we eat make us unhealthy and even the produce and meat and dairy is not 100% good for us if it isn't organic. We gotta fight back with vitamins........
