Hi everyone,

on Sunday i put my back out in a BAD WAY! was literally on my living room floor for two days, morphine then oxycodone.. and 4 trips to the chiro later, i'm finally up and walking but still in a lot of pain! :(

Obviously my overall health is my main priority! But it worries me how long its going to take me to get back into action
I have a 12km run at the end of august (i need to get up from my usual 5kms) i know you are all going to say i need to ask my chiropractor (which i def will do tomorrow!) i was just wondering if anyone else can give me their experiences to put my mind at ease!

I also want to get into Pilates once i'm well enough to build my core and really look after my back from now

Just to give you some background i have an office job sitting on my butt all day! and just by watching my food intake alone doesn't help me with weightloss, i'm one of those people who HAVE to exercise too!

Ask the chiro if he/she can also recommend a good massage therapist who can work your psoas muscle. It is a deep abdominal, connecting your spine to the front of your legs, and prolonged sitting can cause it to shorten and refuse to elongate when you stand. Standing anyway, as we must, can cause it to spasm. Since it is such a deep abdominal, you feel that pain in your back. A good MT can relax that spasm for you. The psoas won't be the only muscle involved, but the MT will know what to check for.

ooh. Depending on the injury, you could start to do Core building exercises. Ask your PT for suggestions, or google them.

That is the cause of some recurring back problems. I have a slipped disc. Core exercise helped a lot. If you strengthen the core, the spine is better supported.
