Pretty worrying at a third of the US population are obese, and reinforces my belief that constant snacking is a habit we should be aiming to break. Not snacking in the evenings has been a huge contributing factor to my weight loss.

I read that article yesterday and meant to post here, but completely forgot!

While I believe that the occasional healthy snack can be beneficial (for me, it's to combat the 4 o'clock lag, or after a workout), I agree that constant snacking is incredibly bad. It's so easy to overeat when it's a constant stream of food, plus I'm sure it conditions our bodies to expect food all the time and start feeling hungry if we go for more than an hour or so without food. Also, it rarely tends to be apples or carrot sticks we snack on, does it?!

In my own experience, the last time I did the all-evening grazing thing was when a friend was here for the weekend at the beginning of the year. We'd been playing board games all evening, and the food was just there. The next day I felt as though I had a food hangover! I felt sluggish and bunged up all day (not in a poo-kind of way, just full of rubbish), and I had no energy at all. Really horrid! I absolutely never snack in the evening now, and I don't even want to!

    Have you read this report?
