Hi Everyone,

Today is my first full day using MFP. I'm using it, alongside the good old "eat less, move more" plan, to lose around 50lbs, to start with. That'd put me in my ideal weight range according to BMI.

I'm 21, and a shocking 176lbs at the moment, so things need to change. Oh, and I'm 5ft 2, so it shows. I've got a really nice goal in mind. Assuming I'm not at work, I'm going on holiday with my friend in October, more specifically, from October 11th, but we're not going to book til September so that I know I can definitely go. I'd like to be at goal weight by then, or at least very close.

The only thing I'm struggling with is my exercise. I've got a lot of work I need to submit to my University on August 15th, so until then I'm practically nailed to the computer to get it done. I need a good DVD/workout I can do at home, that doesn't take long. I've tried the 30 day shred, but it nearly killed me! So something a bit less intense to start with would be good!

I might also be able to escape to the pool on occasion, so that'll help.

Anyway, I'm rambling, so just thought I'd say hi :)

walking has helped me a lot. i walk to work/school and back and burn like 600 kcal/day only due to that. but then it depends on how fast you walk and what distance.

attitude and planning are important too. plan your meals ahead and plan on what foods you should cut back (candy, dips, snacks etc). it's gonna take a while until you find your rythm.

Thank you for the welcome. I'm finding this site very easy to use so far. I need to get my before picture taken though, and do my measurements, so that I've got something to compare to down the line.

Today has been a good day, yesterday apparently I didn't consume enough calories, and today I'm under my daily allowances for everything, even with a treat thrown in, so that's good. Tomorrow I'm going to try and find the courage to do the Shred. I felt awful last time I did it, so intense!
