My kids who went on a trip with their grandparents came home last night and I taught until 9pm so I was WIRED. I have generic Ambien that I take on nights like this. Ambien and watching what you eat, DON'T MIX. I had THREE bowls of cereal. The Ambien takes away the feeling of giving a hoot. Does anyone else do this? So horrible.

I already walk and talk in my sleep WITHOUT drugs , so I'll stay away from something that might make me want to fly...without a plane or parachute :noway:

Used to act super fast on me as well... but I had no pool so I stared at the computer screen and would later see the messages I sent to friends. O M G! They made little sense and those were the days on Ambien, fortunately I don't need it anymore.

I find using Sundown Melatonin so relaxing and seemed to get me back in the regular sleep mode. Plus it's way less costly and doesn't make me do odd things. :blushing:

Amazing isn't it how certain drugs affect each of us so very differently?!

I take ambien a couple times a week when I know I won't be able to sleep otherwise. It does make me a little snacky but I make sure I have enough calories left over for a small snack before bed. I get my snack ready and then leave the kitchen. If I time everything right, I take the Ambien right before a quick shower and by time I'm done I only have the attention span to get a small snack and then head upstairs. If I wait too long, all bets are off.

While Ambien does have it's place, I recommend most of my patients stay away from it and try some other techniques first. For most people, proper sleep hygiene is what is needed in order to get a good nights sleep. No TV in room, no reading in bed, stay up until sleepy, exercise mornings...etc. In medicine, we say the bed is only to be used for 2 things...Sleeping and "it". Well, "it" can be done a whole lot of other places, but you get the idea...Have a great day friends.
  • :frown: YES!!!! I take Lunesta only when NECESSARY for that VERY reason! I had "dreams" that I was getting up & eating ... but I was REALLY GETTING UP & EATING! One night my husband was awake in the Living Room ~ he said I got up, made a sandwich, ate it & went right back to bed!!!! I had no recollection of it .. AT ALL!!!!! Lunesta is the devil too!
