Increasing calories?

A friend on MFP posted a video he got from Beachbody about increasing your calories as you gain muscle mass. It was a fantastic video and really made me think.
Has anyone tried to increase their calorie intake as they built muscle? Any details or recommendations on where to research more would be awesome!

I always eat more when I'm getting a lot of exercise, but when I'm doing strength or muscle-building training in particular, I make sure increase the amount of protein in my diet. All that tofu gets turned straight into lean muscle mass if you're lifting.0

As I approached my goal, I changed my calories from a 1# a week loss to .5# a week, and it's been fantastic. While the actual pounds lost is fairly slow, they've been quality pounds.
I realize that measuring body fat percentages via measurements isn't the most accurate, but according to them, in the last half pound I lost, my lean body mass went up two pounds. So that would mean that I lost two and a half pounds of fat and gained two pounds of muscle. I'm not sure if I buy it, but it's certainly motivation!
My strength, endurance and energy level are through the roof, too.
I highly recommend it.0
