Sorry if this was posted yesterday on another threat. There was one regarding diet soda that got really intense. But I came across this site this morning (just by accident).
Thought it was an interesting read.. I am not saying I am for or against diet drinks, just wanted to post the link so other's could read.

It was posted yesterday, and while it is interesting, especially the second part about aspartame and fasting glucose levels, the first part about waist size has so many problems that it is almost useless. They did not control for total caloric intake from what I can see, it is an epidemiological study, that is it is not some research using a control group and tightly controlling things like how much people eat while on it, and all it showed was a correlation. The problem is that correlation could simple be there because many people who drink diet soda are people who tend to overeat other things and excuse it because they drink diet soda (yes some drink it because they like the taste but not all and I would guess not most). These sort of studies are usually next to useless unless to show what causes say that increased waist size, but can be helpful for giving areas that need to be researched with an actual controlled study. At this point I take the first half with a grain of salt because of those reasons. I don't like aspartame sweetened stuff anyway, much preferring spenda, or better yet stevia.0

Worth reading if you're still drinking diet soda. I gave up soda years ago, after realizing how bad any kind of soda is for you, and switched to water & tea. Now my beverage of choice is green tea (in additon to 8+ glasses of H20/day). Rory Freedman, author of the "Skinny *****" books, calls soda (diet & regular) "liquid satan". There is a chemical in soda that leaches the calcium out of your bones. It also causes acne. My skin cleared up after I stopped drinking soda & switched to water & tea. I think it's very addictive, & hard to give up, but once you do, you'll never go back.0

I have that book. I love the way they present their views. I wish I had more will power to abide to some of the things that they suggest. I don't want to start a debate here. I just came across that and thought someone struggling on whether or not to drink diet would like all the information they can get.0
