No weight loss?

I am walking 2-3 miles a day, 30 sit ups, 5 push ups (I started out not being able to do any) and a little weight lifting. I am eating 1200-1500 calories a day and STILL not losing any weight!! No, I am not getting more toned either. My calories are pretty balanced with vegetables, fruit, meat, grains, etc. I feel like I am eating correctly. I am 5'6" and weigh 145. I know that is average weight but I would like to lose 5-10 more pounds at least. I started out weighing about 190. What else do I need to be doing!?! I am getting really discouraged and about to just give up!

As close as you are to an ideal weight for your height, I think it will be tough work to lose 5-10 more pounds. Try upping your protein and fiber, cut out all REFINED carbs, make sure you're drinking plenty of water and try adding a few 100 yard sprints to your daily walk. Good luck!0

You need resistance exercise in an organized manner...easy stuff, no PX90 etc.....you need to focus on INCHES and bodyfat not the scale. Muscle burns cals more at rest, and the body'[s preferred source of energy is,.....FAT
that is why guys who usually work out with weights get in shape quicker
I would be glad to help in any way
DO NOT GIVE UP

I, too, was not losing weight. After consulting my doctor, she determined that I have hypothyroidism. Now that I am on the correct dose of Synthroid, I have lost a few pounds. She also pointed out that taking Depo-Provera can cause rapid, dramatic, stubborn weight gain. I had picked up 25 pounds in 6 months, because the drug induces a chemical pregnancy. In other words, it tricks your body into thinking it is already pregnant. I will NEVER do that again!
In summary, see your doctor pronto and get checked out just to be sure.0 -
"How long have you been lifting weights? What exercises do you do and how much do you lift? IT doesn't happen overnight, especially in women. YOu have to put in the time and the work andyou'll see the result you want.

I agree - consult a physician - Always a good idea to get checked out regularly...
The protein suggestion can definitely work as well (the cutting out of refined carbs can be huge)
you might also find some help in increasing your resistance/strength training - that way you are burning more calories (all the time)...
I've lost over 100 pounds and though I still have 70+ to go, I'm hitting a LOT of plateaus... It is completely expected, but changing up my routine regularly seems to help...
Hang in there - it is absolutely fantastic that you've lost what you have - you are doing well and you can do this!!!0 -
When I walk, I walk 5 minutes, run 1, walk, 5, run, 1, etc. I do need to up my intake of water. I am working on that! I will have to look up refined carbs.
I had my thyroid tested in the past. Can't blame it on that. I am currently not on any medication.
I am proud that I quit smoking 2 months ago and have not gained weight due to that!!!0
