I've had two new super low cal foods this week! First was kale chips, you can find recipes online but the basis is you take kale and bake it w/ salt and it gets super dry and crispy and delicious! i know it sounds funky and gross (at least it did to me) but its actually really good!

Second discovery are Trader Joe's uncured chicken dogs. They look just like normal 160 calorie franks BUT they are made w/ chicken (and only the good parts, thighs and breast) and are... you ready?... only 60 CALORIES!!! YUMMO! They actually taste GOOD too, not super salty and funky like normal hot dogs.

    Good luck!

Another idea (your probably already know this one) is you can take ranch dressing powder mix and mix it in a container of fat free sour cream (about 20 cals per 2 tbsp) and it makes a super low calorie tastey dip for everything.
  • thanks for asking this : ) i just went on the skinnytaste one and oh my does the grilled pineapple look amazing!

How much is low cal? I make a pizza with a low carb flour taco shell from mission. Add tomato paste or sauce and cheese I usually use 4 servings of cheese on mine then add turkey sausage, we use the jimmy deans precooked crumbled one or pepperoni. if you have a pizza stone cook it on that at 450 for about 5 min turn the pizza every once in a while so the crust doesn't get to dark. If you like thin crust pizza you will love this!!

That is the one I make for lunch its about 440 calories, but I only have cheese on mine. For dinner sub a bigger shell if you want to. I use Azteca shells for dinner. Last night I put chicken( tysons pre-grilled chicken) that had been soaking in hot sauce all day on half of my pizza and it came out to 490 calories.

Good Luck and I hope this gives you an idea for something new!
  • I like eatingwell.com--many of the recipes are low-calorie and most of the ones I've made are yummy.

My mum sent me a recipe book last year by BBC Good Food. She sent it to me because I have a small appt and it's a book of one pot dishes, but all the nutritional information is given, so it's easy to flick through and pick high protein or low calorie meals. I'd highly recommend the book series if you can get hold of them.

Or you can use Lipton Onion Soup mix. And nonfat plain Greek yogart instead of sour cream. And the Greek yogurt will have two to three times the protein as the sour cream. The end resulting taste will be the same IMHO.
