Weight Loss - Round Two

A little background: I lost 90 pounds about two years just by diet and exercise. At the time, the weight came off very easily. I was doing about 5 - 6 workouts per week, 45 - 60 minutes each time. The workouts varied. Sometime they were with a personal trainer. Sometimes they were a group exercise class. Sometimes it was me on my own completing a strength training/cardio circuit. My calories were around 1500 per day and I was really only following the Food Guide Pyramid (at the time). I lost 12 pounds in the first two weeks, then consistently 3 -4 pounds each week after that.

I have gained back most of the weight, and last week really began to get serious about shedding the pounds. I have worked out everyday since Saturday and I've been strict on my calories, between 1200 and 1500. I have lost two pounds, which I know is good and normal, but I also know from my previous experience that at the beginning the weight shed a lot faster. I feel like I'm working just as hard as before, but not seeing the results I expect. My trainer has advised me to drink lots more water and to track the times that I'm eating in addition to what I'm eating.

Has anyone experienced this, the weight being more difficult to get rid of the second time around? Or any other tips that can get my metabolism going?

    Hey Becca,

Been there ... many times. I am now on my final round and have lost over 160 lbs and kept it off for over 7 years now ...

It may sound all crunchy and weird ... but honestly - this is all MUCH more than diet and exercise ... it is equally about your inner self and making sure you address those issues too ... just as you spend 5-6 days a week in workouts ... cut out one and do something for yourself - spend that 60 minutes on your favorite hobby or something you "dont have time for" ... try yoga ... anything ... but do it for you ... not for weight loss.

The rest is just sweat, hard work and a lot of yelling at yourself to stay in line ... =)

    Good luck!

Great advice, thank you. That has been my absolute last hurdle and the one I've been avoiding the most.
