Carb craving when sick?

I have been sick for the entire week (Strep like symptoms but officially not strep) and have been craving carbs which I can usually resist but this week it has been very difficult. The Ritz Crackers have been disappearing like crazy. Is it because the body needs carbs (and I know I could have made smarter choices) or because I am weak that I give in?

Per my doc (about 7 months ago) when I had strep - the body prefers carbs because they are easier to digest and break down when you are sick - thus it calls for them...
    You aren't weak - promise

Thats very true for me but i'm unsure if it is just the imprint of what I was fed when I was young. I usually defer to soups now as they are also a comfort for me. Most are high in sodium but your sick and need to eat something. I find I bounce a little water weight for a couple of days and then flush.. all gone.
