Or anyone who can help me!
I was just sick for about a week and a half with some sort of stomach bug. The first few days were terrible, I couldn't keep any food in and couldn't leave bed except to get to the bathroom in a big rush! I haven't exercised at all in the last two weeks as I was too weak.
For the last few days things have started to normalize, I just have to be really careful what I eat and have been drinking LOTS to keep hydrated.
So in the first few days I lost about 3 kilos (6.6 pounds) which was to be expected as my body was forcing anything not permanently attached to my insides right out! But now that things have gotten back to normal for the most part (I am eating regular amounts of food), my weight has stayed steady at about four pounds lighter than when I became sick - and it's stayed at this weight for a week!
I was expecting to gain all the weight back, and more, because I assumed it was all just fluid/food loss that would return when I started eating normally again. But the loss has maintained and I'm confused.
So my question is, is this "real" weight loss? I was plateaued for about two months before this hit, so if this has somehow got my body moving again, I'll be grateful. But I don't want it to be an unhealthy thing. So if anyone understands what is going on and could fill me in, that would be great!

Do you feel better? If so, if you don't feel "Unhealthy," then why worry about if it will "come back" or not. Just make sure that you're eating a healthy number of calories now that you're better and be glad it's stayed off. In other words, don't worry about it.
sometimes a shock like that to the system will result in a loss--sometimes in a gain. For you, it meant a loss. And, again, as long as you're eating healthy now and feeling better, don't be worrying about it the weight comes back or not. It just adds needless stress.0 -
thanks Shore, that's a good way to look at it :flowerforyou:0

Right now, after the last few weeks I've had of up/down, up/down, up/down, and ending up showing no lose--heck, I'd shave my head if it meant the scale would go down and stay down for more than 2 days straight!0

...heck, I'd shave my head if it meant the scale would go down and stay down for more than 2 days straight!
Amen to that! every week when I way in, I always think...I could get a haircut...I still have my tonsils and my appendix...those are unneccessary pounds...and my most recent mind game is "I probably only weigh 140 pounds and the rest is water weight because I used to be so addicted to pickles and could eat the whole jar at a time and I must be retaining so much water from the sodium!"
LOL I'm just being goofy and would never really believe that a haircut or removal of some organs could be beneficial to my weight loss...but it's just funny that someone else has had similar thoughts!0 -

Shoot, I was ticked when I got my hair cut 2 months ago and it didn't impact the scale at all!0 -
Never thought of that! Getting my hair cut on Thursday, will have to see if there's a difference! :laugh:0
