I posted the same thing when I started & was told by all the lovely members on here not to worry too much so long as it's coming from good sources. I think the protein is set quite low on here & you can adjust it I'm just not sure how! (sorry):embarassed:

As long as everything else is under, or where it should be, I wouldn't worry too much about the protein :flowerforyou:

Great advice. Actually, if you have a great exercise routine then you will need the protein to supply your body. Good luck.

Look at what you are eating and the source of your protein. Eat smaller portions of the protein rich foods and add more fresh vegetables and fruit. Going over on your protein is not bad unless you are having digestive issues or are not getting enough of your other nutrients.

Over on protein is fine... don't stress! It helps you build muscle. Other areas (fat/carbs/sodium) are the one's I'm more concerned with.

If you go into your "goals" you can adjust the protein level. MFP sets it to 15% which alot here seem to agree that it's too low, so I wouldn't worry about it :-) I have mine set to 35%

A nutritionist that i work with says to go for .5 grams protein per pound of body weight per day if you are only moderately active. If you are an athlete she reccommends 1 gram per pound of body weight.

Unles you have a medical issue, more protein is needed than recommended here. Protien along with fiber and water and lowering your calories along with consistent exercises helps you feel full, lose weight, burn fat and build lean muscle.

I h ave mine custom set at 100 as per my doctor. Protein should come from lean meats/fish and foods like greek yogurt, cottage cheese, string cheese and almonds.

Best of Luck, You can do it!

i noticed the samething. i strongly feel that we don't get enough protien. I am more full when i have more healthy protein. I went over just from my breakfast and lunch. breakfast was a protein shake and lunch was a 4oz buffalo patty. and cheese. so i am ignoring the going over protien. at least i am hitting the mark. i was told i should be eating abo 130 grams of protien and this says 71 grams.
I will just stay away from the fattening foods and bad carbs. :)

As long as your protein is coming from lean sources to keep the fat low, I don't see a problem with it. I've been told it is difficult for the body to store protein as fat.

there are definitely worse problems to have, and as some of the others have stated, if you haven't manually adjusted your macro nutrition ratios, MFP probably has it too low, i go for 30% protein, 30% fat, 40% carbs. If you're gonna go over on something though, that's the best one to do it on! Too much protein won't result in extra fat the way carbs, sugar and sodium do.

MFP really does need to be adjusted manually. Everyone is different but here are the things I found:

Protein is too low, carbs are too high. I have mine set at 45% carbs, 30% protein, 25% fat.

You might also look at the sugar goal, which is probably too low, especially if you eat a lot of fruit.

Sodium goal is too high, but if you aren't worried about yours, then you don't need to change it.

Fiber goal is definitely too low. It should be 25-30 grams per day. Adult men need even more.

Potassium goal is too low. Recommended intake is 3500 mg.
