Although I joined MyFitnessPal at some point last year, I haven't really been using it (oops!) but as I've been stuck in a rut as of late I figured it's time to get back on the wagon & what better way than to get involved?

As a little bit about me/my 'story', I've been over weight all of my life. Not excessively so as a child but due to my height I was always noticeably bigger than the other children. It wasn't until I was 12 or so that the weight started to pile on, I've tried many 'diets' & things over the years but I'm finally at a point in my life where I have control of what I eat & what I do & I'm ready to get this weight off. I have a long way to go (hoping to lose another 100 or so pounds) and I'm determined to get there eventually.

I won't ramble on too much & bore you to death, just wanted to introduce myself really. I can't wait to get stuck in & I'd love to hear some tips on how you stay motivated! xx

It's sad but MY motivation is my scale! When I see the #'s getting smaller I get gitty and want to do as much as possible to keep it going down! Oh and it's nice to see the look on ppl's faces when they see I've lost 60+ lbs! Good luck and stick with mfp,it really does help :)

60lbs? Oh wow, that's amazing! I hope you're proud of yourself lovely. The scale was a motivator at first but as I'd weigh myself everyday whenever it fluctuated up, rather than getting more determined, eventually I started to get miffed & dejected! I'm feeling rejuvenated today & I my head's back on straight x
  • Stephanie,

I recommend taking measurements right away (before you work out as your muscles will swell during a workout!). That way if you track you measurements monthly or so, if the scale doesn't move- the tape measure probably is. That will keep you going during bad weigh in's. Welcome back to the site! Today is only my second day here :O) The people here are so supportive and amazing, they can help keep you going when you want to quit. Also, write down your goals and dreams. Reviewing these off and on will help keep you going as well. Or post a picture of yourself that you don't like to remind yourself to keep going until you reach your goal!

    Good luck!

oo well welcome to you too! I've only been on the boards 5 minutes & everyone is amazingly nice & supportive already! Love the tip about writing my dreams down as a reminder, I have a tendency to get overwhelmed & lose hope now again. In the beginning I was more diligent with my measuring but more recently I'd forgotten about it. Definitely something I'll be doing in the morning. Thank you for the advice chica & I wish you the best of luck with your journey! x
  • Good luck to you! Once you get in the habit of using the site and/or the app, it's addictive...in good way!

    Hi Stephanie! Glad you're here!
What motivates me is knowing that a handful of people that I've never actually met before can see everything I do. :) If I don't log my food one day, they will know, and that can't happen!! And I see them all eating within their limits and exercising everyday, so I feel like I have to keep up! Can't wait to see your progress. xx

I will send you a request.
