Anyone have any good ideas for arm exercises? I need to target that area at the back of my arm, which I think a lot of girls have problems with? I need to tone that up!!!!

Scroll down to almost the bottom of the page. These are great for triceps (back of the arm) and easy to do since you don't need weights--just your own weight and a chair!
  • Hi, I have been using this pilates workput from You Tube and so far so good!

also try this one: (marie claire - all these excercises are quite good)

Good luck and let me know what you think :o) Be careful with some of the excercises that you find on line - you want to tone your arms rather than build them - I recommend these - they are working for me.

The only thing that will improve muscle definition or make your arms smaller or reduce fat in the area (generally these three things are all referred to as 'toning'), is to reduce body fat overall. Spot reduction isn't a myth entirely, but it happens very seldom, and not from resistance training.

That said, anything that uses elbow extension uses the triceps, which make up the muscle body on the back of your arm. You can do skull crushers, overhead extensions, close grip bench press, reverse grip bench press, or dips to work this area well.

Skull crushers? How would this help the arms? d066.gif I guess depending on the size of the bat though--I can see how a good heavy bat would tone the arms.

Does wonders for the PMS, too!
  • Listen to songbyrdsweet. Your body doesn't pick and choose where it burns fat.
  • Absolutely! Your body doesn't choose where it loses weight from but you can certainly give it a boost using these excercises. Try not to use more than 0.5 kg weights - you don't want bulky arms :o) x

I am 47 and use 10 lb weights for bicep curls and tricep kick backs every day.

I do 30 push ups every day.

I am working towards the perfect push up.

I went to work yesterday and 10 people said my arms are beautiful.

Muscle is great. I wanted definition when the fat started to fade...it is a showin now.

So get some weights, and lift away. You would really have to work like crazy to bulk up...think about it...the ppl who enter those contests are NOT sitting at home doing 30 girly push ups and 20 lb bicep curls!
