Shoppie-WTG! I feel like BFBM may be her most difficult workout. LOL!

Katie-That's awesome!! I love it when hard work is noticed!

Barb-I bet it is muscle. Glad you're enjoying the ab circle!

    Zannster-Welcome!

I'm holding steady at my current weight, but I have only been walking for exercise. Our a/c will be on all week so I'm planning to do my BFBM video before lunch today. We're going walking on the bike path this morning. I have about two months until we go to visit DH's family in England and i don't want to be wedged into the airplane seat. LOL! I hope everyone has a good day/week!!

Barb - it almost certainly is muscle weight, I have really struggled to lose weight since starting to seriously do a lot of JM DVDs, but I have lost a lot in inches.

Nicole - funny to think you'll be in the same country as me in a few months!

    zannster - welcome!

Katie - well done on shifting those 5 pounds and on all your hard gardening! I have been slaving away outside too, the weather has been very up and down here with lots of rain (shocking, I know..) and that has meant stuff is growing like, well, weeds, but few chances to get out there and clear it!

I lost 2 pounds today bring my total to 2 stone! I know, I know you don't really do stones (its 14 lbs to the stone by the way) but a stone is a very signifcant amount to lose and I have now lost TWO! My original goal is only 6 lbs away. i actually think I have another stone/ maybe 20 lbs to go still, but I will allow myself to hit goal first before adjusting it - so here's to my final furlong that I set myself back in March! :drinker:

    Welcome Zannster!

Barb~I am glad that the in laws are leaving you alone. Hope that it continues.

Nicole~Thank you! I do to. Holding steady can be a good thing. At least there is no gaining right? I know that you want to lose and it will come. I hope that your trip to England is a good one.

Shoppie~Thank you! The weather has been a bit off here too. I got out and weeded my garden last night. Well at least one of them. Still have my other one that needs weeding and my flower gardens but I will get to it. I hear you on things growing my big vegetable garden was being taken over by weeds. Way to go on the 2 lbs and the 2 stones! That is awesome. Also thank you on explaining the whole stone vs pounds. I always got confused on how it converted. You can make it.

Well I am going to go relax I have TOM and a stupid headache + at least an hour before I can send kids to bed. It has just been one of those days.

Hi everyone I'm a SAHM of 2 wonderful little girls 5 1/2 and 3( 4 in 3 weeks or so). would love to have some more support for others SAHM. A little about myself. I am 32( 33 in about 2 weeks) and I just got my license in Dec. My girls started public preschool last year and have been out for the summer since the end of June. I have found that the gym has become my friend with free kid care for 2 1/2 hours and I get a workout in. I also finally got my hubby to workout with me a couple of days a week.

Hey Ladies! Sorry I have fallen off the face of the earth. I've been logging, but not really venturing into the message boards. I'm such a lurker lately!

Katie ~ No AC?! How the heck do you do it? With the humidity and 90 degree temps this past week, I think I'd die. My neighbors across the street don't use it and I'm so amazed. I keep our thermostat at 78, it's just enough to keep it from getting to stuffy. Congrats on being noticed!! love it!

KC ~ You're doing better than me, lol I should make myself post once a week! haha

Nicole ~ how is the walking group?

Welcome to the new girls, the thread is quite slow during the summer, but feel free to post when you can!

    Shoppie ~ Congrats on losing!!

Babbe ~ Welcome! I go to the gym with childcare too, I would never workout if I didn't have that LOL

I have lost a whole pound in the past 2 weeks!! So excited since I've been stuck for a few months and getting frustrated. Upping your calories just a bit works! I was at 1350, but for the month of July I brought it up to 1600. I don't always net 1600, but it's always at least 1400. I like to see I have calories left at the end of the day, so it's been nice to not have to stress about it. At 1350 I felt the same way about having calories left, and most of the time I think I ate too little (netting at 1200).

Half marathon training is going well, we have a 7 mile run Saturday and I mapped out a course with hills :) My running posse is going to hate me LOL Also, I signed up for a 10k on Aug 6th, only women! I am excited :)

So, I think I have a NSV, this past weekend, I went shopping for some new spaghetti strap shirts (and most of mine are XL), well I tried on XL and it was too big, went to a Large and it was too big, ended up going and getting 3 MEDIUM spaghetti straps!!! (But all my other shirts I bought today were XL, go figure?) Also, I bought a new pair of jean shorts and I was in a size 18, and was able to fit comfortably into a size 14!!!!! So I guess that's 2 NSVs!!!!

Shoppie-I know! We're excited. We haven't been back to England in six years, and this is the first trip for the kids. I'm just going to need to try to avoid all that good food in Devon!!

    KatieM-Holding steady is good!

    Babbe-Welcome!!!

Katie-We're going every week for about 45 minutes (slow pace with the kids), but my walking buddy is moving away. :( I'm going to have to see if I can find someone else to walk with because I won't walk the path alone. Oh, and it was supposed to be a group of us, but only the two of us keep showing up. LOL!

Barb-That's awesome!!!!!! Keep up the good work!!!

ETA: Whoops! Forgot my update. I'm going to go do BFBM in a few minutes, but will be staying inside today since it's already hot and humid outside.

So I tried those 14s on again this morning and they fell off. :blushing: Took them back, tried a few on and a 12 stayed up and was a lot better then those 14s

Barb - so chuffed on your behalf re: the shorts! How tall are you by the way? Just always interested!

Nicole - fattening food in Devon not easy to avoid I've probably said this before but my friend lives there and the cream teas are lethal mmmmmmm clotted cream with jam and scones  I hope the weather has improved by the time you get here, it was lovely back in April/ May but it is tipping it down and 16 degrees (16! WTF?? i don't know what that is in celsius but its ridiculously cold for July! just checked and its just over 60. I mean, seriously??) Sorry, rant over!

katie - nice to see that lb gone! Well done on runnig in the heat humidity you have, I read on your status it was 100% the other day, I cannot even imagine running in that - yuck! I am the same re: liking to come in a hundred or so under 'target' so I had to do the same and up my target so I ensured I always netted at least 1200 - I've noticed I'm eating around 1600 most days.

katiem7 - hope today has been a better day!

Welcome babbe! :flowerforyou: well done on getting your DH on side. My DH has been working to shift some weight with me (he has lost around 15 lbs too - yay him! ) and he has never done that beore, I've found cutting back far easier when there isn't someone sat next to me eating yummy unhealthy foods.

Other news my end - I am enjoying my Jillian Michaels challenge (30 day slimdown - basically a schedule using the 30 DS, No more trouble zones and banish fat boost metabolism), but I am finding my knees and ankles are beginning to give me grief. I'm not at all the warm up in the 30DS in particular is adequate to prevent injury. I am desperately looking for a really good exercise DVD to move onto once I'm done, so any suggestions would be very welcome! :flowerforyou:

    Babbe welcome!

Katie~It is a "dry" heat here so it is not as bad. We do have two window A/Cs to help with the heat. I guess after 4 years without you get used to it. It would be nice though to have A/C my hubby "melts" in the heat though so he is pretty grumpy the hotter that it gets. A lot of times he camps out in the bedroom to keep cool. Good luck with that run on Sat.

Barb~Way to go on the NSV! Love when you fit in smaller sizes. Feels great!

Shoppie~Thank you it has been a better day today. We went to the zoo and had a fun day today. Be careful with injury that would not be good. I recently started hula hooping it is fun. I will keep you posted on if I see results from it.

    LoveMy3Boys welcome!

So tomorrow we are having another "fun" day. Here in Utah we get an "extra" holiday in July called Pioneer day. Well in the city that we live they are having a parade and fireworks. Well my 5 oldest children are going to be in the parade. I am hoping they have fun in the parade. It should be fun for us to see them in it not to mention we won't have to worry about all those kids. Also last night I went jogging/walking/biking. We rode our bikes to a nearby high school and then walk/jogged the track. I don't think I did too bad considering that I am not a runner. We would run half the track and then walk the other half. I want to work up to running more. I will keep you all posted how that goes. Got to go chat later.

    Shoppie-I'm 5'3"

Katie-I was soooo excited when I fit into the smaller sizes, I haven't been in either size since well, never. I was a big girl from middle school to high school. I was little in elementary, but then those pre teen and teen years were not good to me :( The smallest size I ever was in, would be a large in shirts and 14 in pants/shorts.

Barb - ah, 5'3! You are very close to my current weight but I'm 5'8 which is why my 'ok' weight range is much heavier (max 'acceptable' for my height is 164 lbs) I always think the weight range for shorter people sounds nuts - one of my friends told me recently hers is something like 108 lbs to 142 or similar, I was just :noway: I mean seriously, only just over 100 lbs for an adult?? Mind you, minimum for my high is 122lbs, to ever way anything like that I'd have to chop off a leg or something!

I am currently trying to work out what a proper GW should be for me once I'm into acceptable. I have been 158 lbs twice, once when living in Russia and suffering from food poisoning on a regular basis and once when I had chronic depression, neither really being a great example of health! How do you work out a GW? My friend told me she reckons I should weigh around 150, but that still seems a really long way away, and based on what?? I know I do def still need to lsoe weight as oppose to 'just' firm up, but really don't know how to set my next goal once I hit acceptable - ideas??

Katie - hope the run goes well today

KatieM7 - glad things are looking up, hope you had fun at the parade today!

It is sunny and just over 70 today, still very cool for the time of year, but an improvement! Long may it last! We are taking the opportunity to go to a theme park that we have annual passes for this avo, and are going to the all you can eat pizza/ pasta place after as it does kids eat for £1 so all 4 of us can eat for about £15 which is really good value for eating out where we live

Big NSV for me today, FINALLY made it all the way through JM's BFBM - at flipping last!!

Barb-WTG with the shorts!!!!!! I'm 5'4" and haven't worn a 12 since middle school. Keep up the great work!!

    Welcome Lovemy3boys!

Shoppie-You're making me drool over clotted cream, jam, and scones!!! We can't have clotted cream over here so the last time I had it was six years ago! LOL! Not to mention my MIL loves to cook with lard and she often makes bacon sannies for lunch. Oh boy! She's doing weight watchers so maybe I'll stick to her diet. ;) They live near Totnes and I've been seeing all the hiking trails so I'll have to keep myself out walking everyday. We're hoping for an Indian summer when we come over. Though I would love to have 16C. Yesterday it was 26C here at 6am!!! And sticky. Anyhow, WTG on the BFBM dvd. I still can't do 180 jumps or standing mountain climbers because of this darned wart.

Anyhow, I forgot to soak my oatmeal last night so I had some PB toast for breakfast this morning. I'll probably do the oatmeal or yogurt with fruit for lunch though. My goal is to do at least 23 mintes of JM BFBM today.

OK, I have to ask, why can't you have clotted cream?? There is fab walking near Totnes, you will just walk miiiiiiiiiiiiiiles and then indulge in the scones cream and jam with impunity!

BTW, what the fudge is going on with the debt talks in the US??

Oh and on the topic of goal weight, I had read somewhere (I can't remember where though) that a goal of a 22 BMI was a good range for GW. That wold put me at 130, but I haven't weighed that since I was about 12, so I'm not sure I'll ever reach it. My Mom always says you should feel good about yourself and forget about the scale. :)

That's awesome quote by your mom! I'm 5'3" and weight 137 which is at the top, but I feel great so really, I don't pay attention to the scale too much...unless I see it creep up to 140 :)

Shoppie ~ Congrats on making it through BFBM!! That is so super hard :) And I have no clue about the debt thing, I hate politics so I don't pay attention :) The run went well this morning too, 7.22 miles. My girls hated me though because I made them run hills in 80 degree weather and 90% humidity ;-P We made it through though! Can't wait for this heat wave to be over, we started our run at 6:30am and it was still awful!

    Barb ~ Congrats!!! :)

We cross posted before. It's not pasteurized and everything sold here needs to be put through that process. At least in the two states I've lived in (NY and Vermont). We took MIL to the Ritz for tea for her 50th birthday a few years ago and I must have eaten the entire tray of scones, not to mention the delicious cakes! LOL!!

I don't pay too much attention to politics either, but I guess our Speaker of the House walked out last night. I feel like they should all take pay cuts to settle the budget because they don't do the work they're meant to anyway. ;)

Katie-You look great too! My first goal is to get to 140 and see how I feel. For me, it's about being fit more than anything. I love running around with the kids playing soccer or tag, and being able to catch them to keep them safe.

I just did 20 minutes of BFBM. Boy am I out of it. I had to stop a few times to take water and I only did each circuit through once.

In case you're not on my friends list, I wanted to share this with everyone

Mike was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary & his wife was angry. She said, "Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in 6 seconds & IT BETTER BE THERE!" When she woke up, she looked out the window & sure enough there was a box in the middle of the driveway. She ran outside to open it & inside she found a brand new bathroom scale.Mike has been missing since Friday

Nicole - I can't believe they won't let you eat things that aren't pasturised! That's like all the good cheeses  Mind you, I grew up on a farm so literally just took my milk straight from the cow, they'd probably have a fit at that!!

Barb - I saw that on your status -

Hit 30 lbs lost this morning, 4 lb to go to be healthy for my height and hit my original goal - soooo close now!!

My children are getting super excited about school starting. I am of course, as always, having a hard time with the idea of school starting up yet again and my "babies" growing up too fast. Don't tell them I just called them babies they would be super ticked at me. We found out last night who each of them have for teachers. I am pleased with each one. Now we shall see if the teachers are as good as I have heard. Oh and a fun little thing....the principal at the school has asked me if I will help out on the lunch recess as playground supervisor. I am pretty excited that I get to see the older kids during the day. Well got to go chat later.

Shoppie-Raw milk is gaining popularity here, but it's still illegal in most states. Dairy farmer's here in Vermont are allowed to sell small quantities of it, but last year a farm was brought to court for holding a class to teach cheesemaking with raw milk. Sillyness if you ask me.

Hi KC! Glad you're enjoying the summer!

KatieM-when do they go back? A friend of mine in KY said hers start on Wednesday. I think our local schools go back the last week of August, but in NY wher eI grew up we always went back the Wednesday after Labor Day. :) Playground supervisor sounds fun! We used to love seeing our friends' parents. (Mine worked.)

Well, this weekend was a busy one! I hit up the library book sale on Saturday morning and found lots of great book to use for homeschooling. It's lucky for me that my neighbor used to be a schoolteacher, and she volunteers for the sale, so she put some things aside for us. As for exercise, I haven't been doing any. I'm on TOM and have terrible back pain and stomach cramps, so I'm just resting for now. I hope everyone had/ is having a great weekend!

katieM - great news re: being a lunchtime supervisor, that is a popular job here as although it doesn't pay loads it fits perfectly round school age kids :flowerforyou: Feels odd to me you are only finding out now who the new teachers are, in the UK they are told at the back end of the summer term and have a trial day in their new class. But then we don't return to scholl until 5th Sept, so still about 5 weeks to go.

KC - hey, great to hear from you! :drinker:

Nicole - I have huge respect for anyone who homeschools, I really don't think that I could do it, my patience is stretched to the limit just being a parent!! ooh, I had forgotten you are in Vermont, I've actually been to Vermont, we went to the Ben & Jerry's factory! It was fall so it was absolutely beautiful (Vermont that is, not so much the factory! ) we did a tour of New England, it was absolutely fantastic and I def want to take my kids on one when they are older.

I have had a bad few days food-wise, but eercising lots so will see what weigh-in brings tomorrow...
