So, let me get this straight..

My BMR is 1500-ish according to MFP
But at the moment my MFP goal is set at 1200 per day, which would make me lose just over 1.3lb per week (i personally can't lose any faster than that according to mfp, sigh).
By keeping my NET calories at 1200 per day (don't worry I am eating my exercise calories most days, I need them to afford my meals!), am I eating too little or is that just right?
Cos I kinda figured if I'm eating 1200 and my body needs 1500 BMR, it would get its energy from the all my fat cells I already have stored, and that way slowly eat away at my fat until I'm skinny (yay  ).
And yes I have read the newbie posts and all, just can't get my head around them.
So my question: is 1200 too few for me, or am I on the right track?
Thanks :flowerforyou:

You should be on the right track...if you start to feel really sluggish and you're sleeping and eating all your calories (and working out and eating those too) then add some more in. Just keep it healthy choices and you'll be good.0

1200 is too low--that is a severe deficit that really should only be used by those with alot to lose under doctor's care.
Given your age and small amount to lose, no way you should be at 1200
Second--ignore your BMR. That is not the important number. YOu need to look at your RMR, which MFP lists on your "goals' page--that is your BMR plus the amount needed to maintain your selected daily activity level. The BMR is only what it would take to keep you alive if you were in a coma basically--which I'm assuming you're not.
You should be aiming for no more than 1/2 pound a week loss at your point.

Hey there!!! I don't think I said welcome, sooooo welcome!!!
I ended up upping my calories because I felt that the 1200 was too low or what I wanted. I went from starving myself, to now wanting food. Crazy, ey? I was only losing about 1 pound a week anyway, so I figured...Hey, I'll eat for that!!!
I have a horrible head ache right now, but I wanted to respond...Because frankly, I can't stand sorting through all the posts. Ask away girlie! Ask away! ) I don't mind the same questions over...Ask away!0 -
Ooh ok. :ohwell: so it's going to take a little longer than I thought. Cheers for that, that's opened my eyes! I'll go up my calorie intake (food here I come!) and change my goals. Hmm.
Thank you for helping me clear that up :happy:0
