I spent about 45 minutes last night sanding a pool table by hand. Is that considered wxercise? If so how can I log the calories burned for that? I couldn't find anything online about it. MFP has carpentry in their database I'm just not sure that is the same thing.

I wouldn't really call it exercise. You probably got your heart rate up. So many factors go into calories calculations. How many breaks did you take? Were you drinking water during the sanding? Were you standing comfortably or kneeling/squatting?

This is why i love the bodybugg. It tracks all my calories during the day :)

Nutristrategy.com lists the number of calories burned per hour for general housework, general cleaning, and carpentry. The amount burned is the same for each activity. The have a good list of activities broken down by calories per hour by weight.

And anything that breaks a sweat is a calorie burning activity, especially if it falls out of the norm for daily activities.

    Good luck.

If it is not something you normally do, I would certainly count it in your calories burned. It really all depends on your weight, as to how many calories you burned. Google it and see if anything comes up.
