Hey everyone! So lately I've been STARVING!! I keep eating and I'm still hungry which makes staying under my calorie goal very difficult. I'm thinking that I must not be choosing foods that very filling. What sorts of foods make you feel fuller longer? I'm sick of feeling hungry!!

Thanks for the help!! :)

Beans, nuts and high fiber / Whole Wheat tortillas, bagels, etc. Fiber One 90 and a bottle of water.

Apples, apples, apples work for me. And my dentist likes them, too.

For my slow carb sources I enjoy....
    steel cut oats
brown rice cereal (bobs red mill)
    Long grain brown rice
Quinoa (more nutritionally dense than brown rice)

Pair these with a lean source of protein and you should be full for a good amount of time (dependent upon your activity level)

The other members suggestions of apples and almonds are also good appetite "curbers".

    Best of luck!

I constantly drink water and eat something about every 2 hours. Nuts, beans, apples, anything high in fiber will help. I find water fills me up enough where I don't over eat at a meal. When desperate I get sugar free candies to suck on that will curb my appetite as well.

It's important to remember that part of it is psychological too. You are NOT starving, no matter what. We're so used to eating at the first sign of NOT FULL that we think that is hunger, hunger happens when your stomach is empty, not just less full.

It's also okay to be a little hungry sometimes, just like sometimes we're warm, or chilly, or tired. It happens. If I took a nap every time I felt "exhausted" I'd never get to class or do things with my son LOL. We just push through it. food is the same way, there comes a point where you have to say "meh I'm not really hungry I just think I am and my next meal is only an hour away, I'll live".

Water. Water. Water. My body is VERY pissed at me right now. I was pouring in the calories to get how I was, and my body wants to stay like that. When I get "hungry", I also get very agitated...like I'm a crack addict or something LOL. However, I know I've eaten enough, so I just drink water. I keep it next to me at all times. Just drinking throughout the day usually does the trick. If not, I log on here or watch weight loss YouTube videos to distract and encourage me.

Almonds have been working for me lately. Even just like 10 almonds keeps me full until my next meal.

Also, for my snack this morning, I had 1/2 cup of 1% cottage cheese on 2 rice cakes. I laughed to myself thinking this was such a "diet" snack. I was amazed, though, that it kept me full for a few hours!

Water, too. I'm a big water drinker (72 oz. a day at least). There are times when I think I'm hungry, but if I drink a bit of water, I'm good. Maybe my thirst and hunger signals get crossed.
