Inner thigh burns

So I have always had the problem of my inner thighs rubbing together when I walk / run for long periods of time. It can be painful! Sometimes I stop running because I am worried about the damage. I love to walk and run but this can take you out of the game for quite a few days. Anyone have any good tips on how to keep it at bay or even to heal it quickly?

My boyfriend may kill me for saying this, but when he was 260 pounds he would wear something called compression shorts so his thighs wouldn't chafe when he would walk or run. I don't know what they are or if they still make them because that was like 15 years ago.

Make sure you wear shorts/pants/capris that are long to keep some of the friction off. Also, there are anti-chafing products out there specifically desinged for this. Google it, as I cannot think of the names of them right now, sorry!

Get some spandex shorts, like the kind bicyclists wear.

They sell them at Walmart, in the sports section. They are like $15 a pair, and do a great job.

Or, you can buy a 'Name' brand for $40. But, they DO work, and work very well.

Compression shorts or Under Armor, or vaseline or Body Glide!

Thank you! I will look into it. Shorts would always ride up so I never thought to look but I will be putting compression shorts on my list!

    Almost forgot ...

Baby Powder is your friend. It helps the skin glide, absorbs moisture, and relieves the chaffing afterwards.

But, avoid the whole mess; get thee to Walmar, and buy the Walmart branded compression shorts for the ~$15 or so.

This is from friction + heat + humidity (sweat). Try to address as many of those three issues as possible to prevent it:

If you wear any sort of longer, cotton pants/capris it should help. Look for some that made for runners that don't have seams on the inside of the legs.

If you've already got this situation, use benadryl cream to get rid of it. Make sure you read and follow the package directions....too much of a good thing does NOT always equal a great thing!

Baby powder will help out a bit if you're going to be out and about and have to wear a dress or skirt, but doesn't help so much with running/walking because the sweat and powder will mix and do weird things.

Don't use neosporin (antibiotic cream) or lotions - it just extends the pain.

There is a powder called Monkey Butt. I have never tried it, but have heard good things about it. I usually am OK as long as I wear either capris or walking shorts. I use powder when I wear a dress--which is almost NEVER for that very reason.

There's this product by Monistat called Anti-Chaffing powder gel and it works great! I use it every time. They sell it at kmart and walmart with other Monistat products.
