1992! 1992! 1992! 1992! 1992! 1992! 1992!
Did you graduate in 1992?
Do you want to lose your goal weight before your 20th high school reunion?
Do you want to focus on fitness and nutrition in addition to weight loss?
Do you want to join a team challenge?
Do you think you have (or need) the motivation to keep up with a challenge for close to a YEAR?
If you said yes to all of the above (this is sounding like an infomercial!), join this challenge! Teams of 4 will begin competing on three levels—weight loss, fitness, and nutrition goals—on Wednesday, July 6, and keep it up until May 31, 2012. The winning team will be announced Monday, June 4, 2012—twenty years to the day since I graduated high school!
CHALLENGE PERIOD: July 6—May 31, 2012
ENROLLMENT PERIOD: July 1—Monday, July 4, at 11:59 pm EDT.
WHAT THIS INVOLVES:
Individual weight loss goals (end date = May 31, 2012) with weigh-ins on the 15th and 30th of every month
New fitness and nutrition challenges every other week
Team spirit!
HOW THIS WILL WORK:
Teams of 4 will be competing to earn the highest number of points. Every other week, points can be earned by
1. Loosing weight—1 points per % off of the TEAM weight loss goal (individual goals added together = team goal)
2. Meeting fitness challenges—1 point/person for meeting a fitness goal, 5 points if the entire team meets it
3. Meeting nutrition challenges—1 point/person for meeting a nutrition goal, 5 points if the entire team meets it
The team that earns the highest number of points during one reporting period will get to set the fitness and nutrition challenges for an upcoming period (e.g., if your team wins on July 15th, you'll set the challenges for the August 1-15—you'd already know the challenge for July 16-31st). The team with the highest number of points at the end wins bragging rights.
Each team will need to choose a name and a team captain. Teammates will report to the team captain, who will post the official team stats—both current and cumulative—to the forum post I will start (and link to) when the challenge is about to begin.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU WANT IN:
Reply to this post by Monday, July 4, 11:59pm EDT and include the number of pounds you'd like to lose by May 31, 2012. On Tuesday, July 5, I will post the teams and team goal weights—I'll assign teams of four randomly—and each team member should friend the others on the list, pick a team name, and choose a captain. When teams are assigned, we'll start another forum post (linked to this one) and use that to post official team progress (you can report to your captain, and he/she can post it on the forum), brag, goad each other on, etc. I'll also post the calculations/format we'll use for reporting team progress at that time.
