Spiking your calories

I think this is the term. Does anybody eat good all week staying with your calorie range, then just one meal you have anything you want without counting the calories? I know it as spiking. Like how body for life does.
Anybody else doing this?

My Dad does that. Every Sunday is his free day. His weight loss is not successful at all. I think the key is to just eat less of what you crave. Don't deny yourself those indulgences but only have a bite or two and savor each bite. Best wishes to you!!0

I don't indulge on a WHOLE day. Instead, I have an indulge meal and it's usually earlier in the day and never on the same day that I take a day off from the gym. First, having this planned meal helps me mentally through the week or month of strict clean eating. I pass up every temptation knowing I am working hard for the one meal I get to have whatever I want. It's certainly not spiking which I think would be undoing all the work you did all week.0

I've been doing the one cheat day a week... My weight is still coming off. It may be slower than someone who eats awesome all the time but it helps me stay on track the rest of the week. I have found, with me, that if I don't get a day to eat my cravings then I get discouraged easily and tend to give up easier. this is what works for me but everyone is different. Good luck :0)0

Sometime over the weekends I mess up a bit because we are out running around doing lots of stuff, but I try to be pretty good and work extra hard all week0

That's what I do. If I want something I let myself have it. But I don't over-indulge. A few bites usually satisfies my cravings. But I think its okay to have a cheat meal every 3-4 weeks if that what it takes to keep you on track. Just try not to make that meal a late day meal cuz your body will be at rest soon and won't have the opportunity to burn it off. Good luck!0 -
Sounds like a day of cheating to me.0

i eat low calories for a couple days then eat a meal or two that's higher in calories. And usually after the splurge I lose 3 or 5 lbs.
It;s weird. I think thats just me though0 -
When I lost weight before (unfortunately I've gained it all back!!) I would 'spike' my calories in cycles. I didn't have one cheat meal a week, or cheat day, as some people have. I'd just change up my calorie intake. For example, a week would be 2 days of 1200- 1300 cals, a day of 1900-2000 cals and the rest of the week be around 1500. then I'd up the calories after that. I lost about 3 lbs a week pretty steadily. and I didn't eat back my exercise calories everyday, but did have more cals later in the week.0

if it helps keep you on track the rest of the week, then its better to do that than eat like that all week, but as far as actual weightloss goes, you "may" find that it keeps you on maintenance rather than losing over the course of the week if its a whole day of eating lots.
You may not though, you need to see what works for you, as one persons idea of a binge or a cheat can be vastly different to anoher persons0
