Can we use Ms office softwares like Document, excel etc on ipad?

Can we use ipad for simple writing purposes?
Just like we can access Ms office tools on Imac... can we use it on ipad? I need a small gadget just for my writing purposes coz sitting on pc whole day and typing is a lot of trouble...

so im confused should i buy a mini laptop/ net-book or an Ipad????? please suggest!!!!!!
