Hi all,
I've been sporadically using this site for a while but been trying to actually religiously use it for a month or so now. I've got used to tracking the food so now need to start using the other bits like the fitness tab and the forums. I don't have any friends on here yet so if anyone wants to add me I'll just explain a little.
I used to be a skinny little thing when younger but my weight crept up about 5 years ago. I don't eat a lot, and am quite fussy so cut out whole food groups sometimes (I know that's not healthy either but one thing at a time), so I knew that the weight gain must have some explanation.
5 years later, I have had a gall bladder removed, found out my Thyroid doesn't work, I am anaemic and then on top of all that I broke my back and tore up my ankle.
Now that I am better, I am on a mission. I can't just accept that weight gain is part of my life so here I am.
The best thing about MFP is that it allows you to be honest with yourself. So, yes, I eat salads mostly, but then I am a bit of a party girl and like fruit ciders. Turns out they are 400 calories a bottle!! That can't have been helping.
So now I track my food better, I am starting on the excercise. I want to move abroad in 3 months and want to start a new life with active hobbies. I am starting now with Zumba so far and start a fitness boot camp in July. I'll let you know how it goes!!
MFP tells me that you lose 3x more with friends so please feel free to add me and we can work together. If you live in London, we could even swap tips on eating out and fitness offers (Groupon is a god-send).
Thanks,
Dee

I really admire your resolve to take charge of your life especially after so much bad luck with your health. I live in the US in Washington state (northwest of the US) but am about the same age (I'm 35) and lived in England for several years when I was growing up and my dad was stationed there in the Air Force. If you'd like some more MFP support, feel free to add me. I joined almost a month ago and have set a goal to log in every single day for 100 days (and then beyond that). Good luck with your goals and journey back to health!

Thanks everyone! The response has been great so far, I already feel a buzz of motivation just from the messages from you all!!
If anyone else wants to add me please carry on, you don't have to be in London But if you are and want a fitness buddy, I'd be up for (gently) starting that too!
