Never had a sweet tooth, but now crave sugar....

I have never had a sweet tooth but since joining MFP and changing my diet to one which is healthier, I’m finding in the evening I crave something sugary.
I’m eating much more fruit than before and far, far less fat. I’m controlling the craving by drinking options hot chocolate, so low cal, but I wondered if this is normal? Advice and thought would be very welcome.

Yes, it's normal.
The brain doesn't always send us the right signals when the body needs something. Sometimes when you're craving sugar you are actually lacking protein. Check to make sure you are getting enough through the foods you are eating, many low cal meal plans don't offer enough protein. Maybe you need to add a little more lean meat or if you're vegan some tofu or nuts ( if you're not allergic to them).
Another tip if you crave salt try drinking a glass or 2 of water, you may just be thirsty. Your body will crave the salt because it wants to retain more water.
Hope this helps.0
