So totally excited for my week away to Rome. I am turning 21 and my father paid for me to go for the week with my friends.
Just wondering what I should do about all the lovely food in Italy?
I obviously want to experience Rome as much as I can... do I just eat all of the lovely food on offer or am I going to have to resist?

Not quite sure how I feel about this all.

OOOooo Rome exciting. Well i went to Europe this past summer and I know how excited you must be. So, the advice i would give you is to eat and try their food, but don't overeat and try to control the portion you consume. You have entire week to try their food, so don't go all crazy the first day.

I would not resist any food. Just eat when you're hungry and stop when you're satisfied. Don't worry too much about the calories. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so enjoy it. And don't forget you're going to be walking around ALL day touring, so you will burn off a lot of those excess calories anyway. Take lots of pictures, be careful, and have fun!

Enjoy yourself. The mediterranean diet is actually quite healthy and you should be able to eat well. But if u really want to try some of ther pastas with the creamy sauces, have it as a treat anyway! Have a great time!

Make good choices and watch your portion control.

Pasta - choose tomato based sauces rather than creamy one.
Pizza isn't that common in Italy, surprisingly, so you can probably avoid it!
Cured meats and hams should be plentiful, this is the land of parma ham after all.

But like others have said, enjoy this fabulous opportunity!

Word of advice, take a good pair of walking shoes, it's very much a city you walk around. Don't deny yourself the opportunity to sample the amazing foods on offer, just watch the portions. Have a wonderful time it's a fabulous city.

I always have that quandary going on holiday. Go and enjoy yourself, and eat what you want. You'll probably gain weight as I did, but it'll come back off. Don't eat for the sake of it, and do a lot of walking - it's small enough to walk around.

My big piece of advice - don't get spaghetti carbonara! Not from a calorie point, but from an 'it's awful' point. Of course everything's different there, as it should be, but carbonara (not sure where you're from) is SO different in the UK than it is there. Or in that once restaurant I ate in, anyway!

    Enjoy!

This won't be a popular comment on a diet/healthy eating site but go to blue ice, their icecream is nom!
