www.bodybuilding.com - great website!!! Really recommend if you're into all that. Also get into a few good magazines - my other half gets Flex (in the UK) and i have subscribed to Fitness Her0

Agreed, bodybuilding.com is a great website, lots of great info and has forums on there for all different areas I get musclemag and flex magazine also which has some good food/workout ideas - mainly geared towards men but everything can be adjusted to fit different people.0

I'll 3rd bodybuilding.com! it's great, loads of easy to read articles, helpful tips, and meal/workout plans.
I would recommend setting yourself some goals pretty early on so that you stay motivated. Would also recommend saving weight training workout for afternoons/evenings if possible as it's really tough when your body isn't fueled.
DON'T BE AFRAID OF PROTEIN
best of luck and feel free to add me0 -
bodybuilding isn't just a whim of a decision to make. It takes tons of time, dedication and effort put forth on your part. If you plan on competing you need to decide consciously and morally whether or not it's going to be in a natural federation or not, becuase a natty bber cannot compete with other non natural atheletes and expect to place well on stage. bodybuilding.com is ok for beginners, but you need to seek out professional coaching via online or in person, and not some 24 hour fitness personal trainer type, someone who has been to the show and knows what they're doing. the information gathered on here, from most people, is going to be based off of what they've read, instead of what they've done. I don't compete in bodybuilding, I never had the diet discipline to do that, so I stick to strongman and powerlifting, but I train with several IFBB pro bodybuilders, and the bbing lifestyle is always taken so lightly by those who want the glamour and appeal but don't want to bust theirs in the gym. Research some bodybuilding coaches in your area, and send them messages, ask about their rates and make sure they're at least certified in nutrition as well. I can recommend a coach for women if needed that does online diet and training, but in my opinion, when starting out it's best to see someone. If you're interested in a no BS approach from PRO's in the bodybuilding world, go to intensemuscle.com and read through there. They have a few IFBB pro gals there who post their workouts and diets in their journals, will give you a peek in to what you may be getting in to. A bit of a warning, don't post on IM until you've read everything, and unless you've searched through everything, they don't like repeating themselves when it comes to beginner questions. good luck.0

I agree with the above. If you are a beginner then just start with one of the strength based programs like starting strength or stronglifts. Protein 1g/lb minimum, eat healthy fats, carbs around workout time is what I do (I am not pro clearly!) Build strength/muscle first then cut the fat before a contest (if you wish to compete). Www.t-nation.com has a lot of good articles also but they also sell stuff so you just have to look out for the product placement.0
