So I am fairly new at this and i know by changing the way i eat and exercising for 3 weeks and losing 9 lbs is great. But today was my weigh in and my weight loss was only .6. I know i need to be patient but i am a large girl i weigh 354 lbs so i feel like that .6 is very insignificant. I'm just not sure if i should change things up or slow down a bit, I am allowed to eat 1950 in calories and i burn 400+ a day. I walk on the treadmill every day for an hour, and i also add to that zumba and Pilates 4 days a week. I have two small children so i don't go to the gym i do everything at home. I guess my question is should i not be doing the treadmill everyday? On my off day i still do a half hour on the treadmill. Does everyone Hit a slow down week?

Are you eating back the exercise calories? If so, then don't unless you are still hungry. You have plenty of calories to keep your body going just now. Also, how much water are you drinking? If you consistently drink your 8 glasses a day then your body will shed the extra water it is holding.

Is it a half pound in a day or a week? I wouldn't worry about it too much. you just had a slow weight loss week. Keep plugging along.

Maybe last week was a slow weight loss week for everyone... I didn't lose even a tenth of a pound last week. I held, but didn't lose either!

Yes, we all have slow weeks, no matter what size we are, or what our goals are. Your body needs time to adjust to all the changes, so just be patient. If I were you I would continue walking, even on your rest days. Try to increase your water intake, decrease your sodium, etc... and maybe you can kickstart your system again. But we all experience this, so just keep coming back here for support, but keep moving!

    Good luck!

You and me both! I'm eating 1500-1700 on average and walking at least three times per week and have somehow managed a freaking gain this week. I have to tell myself that it MUST be water weight. My starting weight was 361 and I was down to 319... now the scale is stuck at 322 despite the fact that I haven't gone over on calories even once.

I think, with women, it may be about water. One benefit of being bigger is that you lose weight faster (usually) than someone who has only 10 or 15 pounds to lose. Hang in there. It will work... I have to keep telling myself that too.

Flip it....if you had GAINED .6...how would you feel? Give your successful loss as much merit! You are off to a GREAT start! It took me a long time before I finally added exercise, tried to do it just eating better in the beginning which worked initially. You got it figured out, now just STAY THE COURSE.

    BRAVO to you! :drinker:

    Short answer: Yes they do

I wouldn't worry about it if it's just one week, I'd probably try to mix things up a bit and do something different if it turned out to be a trend over 4-6 weeks.

OH WATER! I read that one should divide their weight in half and that's how much they should drink in ounces. Adding for exercise and caffeine intake. And not only does drinking a lot of water help get rid of that water weight, it also does a lot more. Like helping your liver process all the fats you take in and helps keep your sodium in check.

Yes! Have no worries. Weight loss will fluctuate. When we are eating right, exercising right, not overdoing certain muscle groups (i.e.), building in some recovery time to our schedules, we are on the right path. Keep on keeping on, and never let a scale reading determine how you should feel. YOU determine how you feel, every moment of every day.

I've found that I've been having a slow week as well but the weather here in Ontario has been fairly warm, so it's water retention for me. In fact, I've put on 5 pounds in the last couple of days but my ankles are quite swollen. Try to stay away from sodium and drink lots of water to keep the system flushed. That might help. :)

Your calorie intake and exercise levels sound good. Without being able to check your diary, I can only guess at the possible issues.

My first suggestion would be to look at your sodium intake. This can have a huge impact on your weigh-ins (I had an incident with Munchies Mix last night and while still under calories I was over on sodium and the scale shows it this morning with a 2lb gain -- I know it'll go back down once I flush out my system but this is to give you an indication of how much sodium can affect you).

My second suggestion would be to look at your water intake. You really need to get at least 6-8 glasses in and a little more wouldn't hurt given your starting size.

Finally I would suggest, if you're doing everything else right, to give it a week and see what happens. Your body is likely in shock at the reduced calories and increased activity. Keep in mind you're not going to lose every week and some weeks will be better than others. This is a long haul solution so don't feel that you have to come out of the gate as a sprint.

    Good luck!

ETA: I just read that you don't eat your calories back. You really should. I consume (on average) 2000 calories a day once I factor in my exercise calories and I'm still losing steadily.

Are you staying within your allotted sugar and fat? This tends to be hard for me. Especially when I am trying to eat back some of my exercise calories.

I think everyone has slow weeks. It happens and it can be frustrating. But, keep pressing on. You will get there!!!

    Good luck!
