I just stumbled upon this site today and I must say so far I LOVE it! I set up my goals and it stated my goal was 1200 calories a day (and if I understand correctly as well as the 1200 calories I need to consume however many calories I burned working out). I started using meal replacement shakes a few weeks ago. 2 scoops has 140 calories in it. Is that 140 calories JUST the powder? So I need to add the milk calories, fruit calories etc.?

You are correct that you need to add in the milk and fruit calories. If you are concerned about going over your calories you could use one of the scoops instead of both.

I am afraid if I only use one scoop I will be hungry much quicker. Does anyone out there use meal replacement shakes?

I just started using the Visalus shakes for breakfast.
The main reason being, I have no appetite in the morning. But then I was starving by lunch.

They are a good source of protein, vitamins and minerals and they do help me stay in control at lunch (though i am HUNGRY by lunch time, I am not CRAZY).

I think meal replacement shakes can have a part in weight loss, though many will disagree.
Like I said, I only do it for one meal a day.

    Good luck!

I am doing 2 shakes a day. I was told to use one shake to maintain your weight and 2 shakes a day to lose weight. I had the same problem. I am NOT a breakfast person at all. I can honestly count how many times I have had breakfast on one hand in the past 6 months. The shakes seemed to be a great problem solver. I actually look forward to waking up every day to have one 8 -)

I've been drinking the ViSalus shakes for about 3 years now - 90 calories per serving plus whatever you want to add into it, so my shakes vary from about 200-250 calories (I usually use almond milk, 1 ½ servings of shake, + fruit or PB2).
