Hello, My name is Jason. I spent 3 years in the military were i stugled with being a little overweight the entier time. no mater how much i ran i couldent lose the weight. its been a year and a half since i got out and im starting to feal a bit down about my weight. My uncle by marrage who was pushing 300lb and drives trucks for a liveing recintly was in town and is down to what seams to be around 200lb. i asked him how he did it, what kind of pills he used and what not. he said he only used this app on his smart phone and made sure he intook the proper amount of cal's. so i began searching more and more into this and found where i was going wrong was not the excersize i was doing but the lack of cal's i was not takeing in. so I have desided to give this a try. with help and support and good advise from people i know i can get down to the 180 I want to be.

First off, props for not succumbing to pills!!!!
Welcome to MFP. This is a great community. It's very true that you need to feed that machine that is your body. Follow the plan and stick with it! You'll start to see the new you in no time0 -
Jason, you have certainly come to the right place! you will reach your goals, you just have to have time and patience and trust the process. it works! to many of us think that the way to lose weight is by not eating when it is the exact opposite. But its not only about th calories, its about the quality of the calories. 4 oz of baked chicken breast and a serving of broccoli is the equivalent in calories as a candy bar. but empty calories will just leave you feeling hungrier. Congrats on starting your journey. I know you will be a winner!0

Since I'm new to MFP, all I can say is the support has been amazing this week. The food tracker is a wonderful tool and will let you know if you haven't had enough calories and of course if you've had too many. I love this site ! Welcome to MFP!!0

I too am new to MFP but I can tell you that in the first week I have gotten more support from here than anywhere else or any other thing I have tried. I too, found out that I was not eating enough calories, although people had told me this for many years...you have to eat, to lose weight. I never believed it until I started eating more and my scale actually went down, instead of up as I was expecting it to do. It is a new and exciting time for many of us and if we all stick together, we WILL all reach our goals.
Good Luck and feel free to add me as a friend. I need all the help I can get; and for once I am not afraid to admit it!
