So I recently got my resting metabolic rate calculated and found out that it is 1576 calories. Obviously this changes as fat is lost but for now my question is this. Should I set my own goal of calories in at 1576? Seeing as how that would prevent my body from starving by eating my minimum calories and then I'll eat whatever exercise calories I burn off. I should have a deficit by doing that because RMR is what I would burn if I laid in bed all day and did 0 activity. ideas?

Your RMR is what you burn while sleeping... I wouldn't use that at all for creating your goals. I would stick with using a BMR equation with a activity factor for your normal daily activities. Then create your deficit from that and then balance your total intake at the end of the day to compensate for your exercise cals.0

You can change your settings manually. Go to goals and at the bottom of the page hit change goals. Click on the customize button and you can change your setting there.0

My RMR is actually what I would burn in a 24 hours period, at my current weight, if I were to do nothing but lie in bed.
"BMR and RMR are estimates of how many calories you would burn if you were to do nothing but rest for 24 hours. They represent the minimum amount of energy required to keep your body functioning, including your heart beating, lungs breathing, and body temperature normal.
BMR stands for Basal Metabolic Rate, and is synonymous with Basal Energy Expenditure or BEE. BMR measurements are typically taken in a darkened room upon waking after 8 hours of sleep; 12 hours of fasting to ensure that the digestive system is inactive; and with the subject resting in a reclining position.
RMR stands for Resting Metabolic Rate, and is synonymous with Resting Energy Expenditure or REE. RMR measurements are typically taken under less restricted conditions than BMR, and do not require that the subject spend the night sleeping in the test facility prior to testing.
Most people searching the internet for information on their metabolic rate search for BMR because the term is so widely used. In fact, as explained in the Technical Notes, below, RMR is likely to be more appropriate for your needs and is the more accurate estimation.
However, if you are looking for an estimate of how many calories you need or burn in a day, we suggest that you not use BMR or RMR at all. and MFP told me to eat 1548 to lose one pound per week or 1200 to lose two pounds per week.0 -
ok so I went in and did a calories burned during normal daily activity calculation and came up with 3029. I can't believe that this is right...Then I used the BMR VS RMR calculations for sedentary and light activity life styles and those came up with 1900-2200 calories burned per day. I guess maybe I'll just set my daily calories to the 1568 RMR calories and try that for a little while and see if it helps me to lose weight without getting crabby or feeling run down.0
