Glorious rain falling from the sky! Cool front coming through - is that autumn I see ahead?
So, no bike ride today - a trip to the gym for me. I haven't been since last Wednesday and I'm not going to weights class tonight. I don't want to be sore this week. I will go to yoga tonight, though. Yesterday I did an 80 minute bike ride and a late night 15 minute walk. I've been sitting a lot more than usual lately so I needed the extra walk.
Good luck today V - at least it was only one more day.
Karen, my ride is my first - 40 miles - I think (hope) it should be relatively flat and have perfect weather. It's why I'm awake first - getting ready for that silly 8am start time. Why do all races start so early in the freaking morning? I looked everywhere and couldn't find anything for those less adapt at getting out of bed. Even the Shiner ride (90 miles to a beer factory) starts at 8am. I live in Austin - where "Slacker" was filmed and inspired - I should start the "Slacker Ride" - begins at noon, ends whenever, meanders around town, stops at coffee shops...this is beginning to sound nice.
Happy workouts all!

Mornin'. So, Mary, next year are you going to bike in the Hotter than Hell?
At least it sounds like the weather will be great for your ride this week!
I am not sure what I am going to do today. I'm feeling discouraged about my push ups so I don't even want to do them. I did level 2 Shred yesterday and it was okay, but I didn't like a lot of the exercises. I wouldn't mind a walk so much but it's suppose to rain. I could do Taebo.
I think my whole problem is that I did not sleep well at all last night. The electricity went out about 30 minutes after we went to sleep and it got hot in our room pretty quickly. I can't sleep when it's hot. Five hours later it finally came back on and I zonked out for a few more hours. I just feel tired and dragging today. I've been really emotional the last several days and TOM isn't for another week.
I pigged out a lot over the last five days. Today is grocery list day so I will be making some changes in my eating.
Goals today:
pick up around the house to keep it clean
push ups
drink my water
taebo or shred
make healthy choices for my grocery trip tomorrow
Hope everyone is rested and has a good day!

WHEW! I did 45 minutes of Taebo with my 2 pound weights. I don't remember ever sweating that much with Taebo, but it is pretty humid today. I got a really good upper body work out on top of my push ups. I feel really encouraged and energetic now! I didn't realize how much I missed it until I did it again!
I am also going to log my calories again starting today. I am not going to freak out if I am a little over, or if I miss a day etc. I just need to know that when I want that desert at breakfast, lunch, and dinner that I don't need it!I am even thinking about upping my cals again to 1300 or so. That way I won't feel so tied down. I know this all worked for me last year when I lost 14 pounds, but for some reason it's just not working this time. I feel good now though. I've burned about 600 cals today!
Okay so I worked out and feel great. I go to the bathroom and I'm spotting! Lovely. It's not TOM! At least not yet. Next week. I'm getting tired of this!0 -
Hi ladies,
Just back from the Dr. and the pharmacy. Dr. says there's nothing to be alarmed about, that the makeup of the cyst is "by definition benign." So, that's good. He gave me meds for the symptoms, is convinced I'm suffering from anemia (hence the subway naps) and is sending me for another ultrasound in three months. Apparently, the thing is on the cusp of a size where he recommends surgery, but it's not necessary quite yet. It is still at a stage where it could "resolve on its own" which sounds nice, but would mean bursting and be terrifically uncomfortable, but better than surgery according to the Dr. So, that's all good news. He also encouraged me to exercise, especially when my fatigue is at its worst. (he recommended something lighter than usual) as it releases chemicals that are good for us.
We already knew that, though.
Today is:
bikram
vits and my new iron supplement
water, water, water
Thanks for all the positive energy you ladies have directed at me regarding this. It has helped so, so much! :flowerforyou:0 -
Hang in there viv. Cysts run in our family: my older sister's worst was the size of a grapefruit, only filled with smaller cysts. Then the kicker was when I was about 10, everyone swore my mom was pregnant. She told them she's had 5 children and knows what pregnant feels like, this wasn't pregnant. Turned out to be a cyst the size of a football that required two surgeons to lift from her! Just think about the couple pounds you'll instantly lose when it breaks!!!
Met the trainer/coach for the second day of hell. Only the ab stuff made me want to puke today 'cause I'm still so sore. Friday we're switching it up a bit and heading to the weight room. Yea! That means I really won't be able to move over the weekend!
Didn't have the energy to get in my run this am, so will do this evening or maybe gazelle instead. Regardless, I'll get in the cardio.
Good luck on the ride mary; I never figured out why we trained at 4pm every day in college only to race at the butt crack of dawn either... I'm empathetic for you!0 -
Viv, I'm glad your visit went well. I hope the meds and supplements help!
Mary, your Slacker Ride sounds like fun! I hope this one is, too. How long do you expect 40 miles to take? I know nothing of these things - my bike was stolen from my garage 5 years ago and I have no concept of road distances anyway. I'll be in Austin for training in a month - you'll have to recommend some good coffee shops to me.Oh, and your cat looks possessed. Or at least very annoyed with me.
Not much to report for me. Went for a walk, and am planning on aerobics class and pushups later. I am finding my new goals to be very freeing - if I am too tired after work to do both exercise and school work on a given day, I give myself permission to skip the gym and just do my work and not feel guilty about it. So far I am still exercising a reasonable amount - as long as I don't start gaining I'm fine.0 -
Hi everyone,
Mary, I like the idea of the slacker race too. I spent the summer just looking at my bike. It needs alot of work. 40 mile race sounds like a long one. Maybe I can get excited about it next summer.
Mechanicmom, you have just inspired me to get off the computer and get my aerobics done before the day is over. I spent all of if behind the wheel of the bus and behind a desk when not driving. I need to move.
Vivia, hopefully it won't burst. My daughter had one and was in alot of pain. I'm glad to hear it is benign though. Good luck with it.
Hi Ariannedavis, long time no see. Hope you are doing fine.
cp005e nice to meet you. Glad to hear you are giving yourself some slack. I gave myself too much and now I'm 6 lb heavier. I went from exercise to no exercise with the inevitable result. Back to exercising.
See you all tomorrow, I'm going to go move my butt now. lol0 -
I'm taking my "floating" day off today. So, that means working out every day between now and Sunday. . .
feel free to nag me about that.
Yikes, the size of a football! Mine is somewhere between ping pong and tennis ball. Oh, and Arianne, I've recently discovered that epsom salt soaks and advil combined are magical with DOMS.:flowerforyou:0 -
Hang in there V - we are all rooting for you! At least you know what is going on
cp - send me a line when it gets closer to the conference - I'll take you to my gym or to one of the veggie restaurants in town.
40 miles should take between 3.5-4 hours depending on stops - would be a lot faster on a road bike (maybe 2.5-3, less than 2 hours if you are a serious cyclist - but those people are doing the century ride as it is called - 100 miles - I watch them come in I suppose) If we average 13 mph like we have been, it's only 3 hours of pure riding
Update on dietician - coming tomorrow, got to get ready for yoga - nuff to say - no more calorie counting for me :noway:0
