I have been exercising heavily for the last 8 weeks and I am discouraged because the scale will not move. I have also been keeping my caloric intake between 1200 & 1500 almost every day. I have been average 4 miles an hour and have walked/run 103.5 miles, plus swimming and stationary bike occaisionally. I need advice. I can not figure out why nothing is happening. A tape measure shows some progress but somedays areas increase by an inch or more only to be relost in a few days.

You are probably exchanging fat for muscle. Keep at it. You are doing great.0

Are you watching your sodium and fat and carbs? Are you using a HRM to measure your calories burnd?0

it could be sodium..and also as you work your muscles they will hold water to repair themselves so maybe try to change your "rest" day to the day before you WI. that way your body has time to heal and let go of some of the extra water.0

A cautionary tale about measuring after workouts! - My wife and I went to the gym one morning but on the way had to drop our car off at the garage and then walk to the gym. We took a short cut across a playing field and had to squeeze through a small gap in a fnece into the gym. I just managed to get through. After a good 1 hour cardio workout and some strength work we had to go back to the garage for the car. We went back to the gap in the fence and guess what - I couldnt get anywhere near squeezing through!! It was as if somebody had closed the gap in the fence to half its size!!! I dont have a scientific explanation but I just accepted that your body is 'pumped' for a while!!0
