Hey!

I was wondering what kind of heart rate monitor I should buy?

What kind/brand is accurate?

    My cardiologist recommended the Polar with the chest strap.

    I have a Polar FT7 and it's very accurate. I love it...stores data, tells me how much time I'm in Fitness Zone, Fatburn Zone, and how many calories burned. I'm really glad I purchased it, very comfortable. I'm a P90X grad, I do Insanity, Zumba, among other exercises and this HRM has never failed me. This was highly recommended to me for weight loss and fitness.

    Polar FT7 here too... does everything I ask it to except for working in water :(

    Polar FT4 is cheaper than the FT7 and pretty much does everything you need it to do (as stated above). I got mine on ebay cheaper than anywhere else I could find.
