i have been on and off this program for several months because i am basically a very consistenly INCONSISTENT person. so i thought if i try again to write down the food and exercise maybe i will SEE the portion control problems. I just never realized how much food i was eating. i have been fighint the same damn 30lbs for several years; it's like my bod feels stuck at this set point . I can exercise all i want but if i don't watch what i put in my mouth its all for naught! so i need lots of help encouragement to STICK WITH IT. I'm a diabetic too so have pretty good control with that but still a carb junkie...

Set challenging but achievable goals, do some enjoyable exercise (ex. walking, trecking, etc) and start slowly challenging yourself a little more each time and you'll see results in no time.

    Good luck.

I have lost 30 lbs since the start of the year and it's been entirely through watching what I eat. I agree that if you don't watch that, you have twice the battle ahead of you.

I have been on that same boat just a couple of months ago but since I started to log everything I eat and burn, I was able to break out of my plateau. But whatever happens, do not ever quit exercising and especially in controlling those carbs, its OK to eat complex carbs as we need it for energy but as always do not go overboard the limit. I understand it as I'm a diabetic too.

Pretty much the same as the others - mini goals. Also losing weight is not a prison sentence, so you are allowed treats just remember the word moderation!

I know how you feel and I've been quite frustrated with my ups and downs of weight loss in the last 3-4 years. You are right about the food - it's really so important to have the balance and exercise of course should be part of the plan. I personally recommend trying low GI as well as whatever restrictions you have around being diabetic. I found that I was much less of a carb junkie when I started being more selective about the types of carbs I eat.

Being "inconsistent" is difficult to overcome although you can still be more consistent on a regular basis even if you have a blow out now and again. Try to recognise what patterns of emotions or behaviour lead to your inconsistent behaviour and manage them more proactively.

    I wish you success! :flowerforyou:

You and me both!!....I know exactly where you are coming from as I have unsubscribed from MFP twice thinking I can do this on my own and found I really do need to log what I am eating everyday. I am in a good place right now having lost 3 stone in two years but I do struggle to maintain this. I am hypothyroid and I was borderline diabetic but have managed to overturn this and get my glucose level back within the normal range. Sugar is still a BIG problem for me and I blow my allowance everyday..usually at breakfast with a glass of fruit juice and a handful of blueberries...frightening!! I don't worry anymore and have doubled the sugar allowance that MFP sets me.

    My advice to you is:

Watch the carbs...avoid white refined flour and substitute this with brown if you must.

    Everything in moderation
    Eat little and often
    Exercise...exercise...exercise...

You won't find me bouncing about in any gym like Tigger and I don't do 30 day Shreds either...I have found that a brisk 30 minute walk every day is enough and water aerobics classes 2 or 3 times a week have done wonders for me...I am proof that this has all paid off since I got down from size 20/22 to 14/16 and my waistline is now down to 31" from 39".

I hope this helps to eliminate your frustration and good luck....you know you can do it!
