Hi

My mum is joining me on this weight loss journey and we go to curves 3 times a week. I have started 30 day shred and my mum would like to do some workouts at home.

The problem is she has arthritis is her wrists and thumbs (very painful) and her ankles. She is not able to do any jumping moves and will struggle with hand weights more than a pound or so. She joined curves to get more flexible which has worked but now wants to lose weight as her doctor has told her she is a risk of diabetes. She will be joining the site today and her healthy eating will start...just gotta wean her off meal replacement bars and into good food.:ohwell:

Sorry for the ramble but can anyone recommend any good workout dvds that are low impact or specifically for the mature or arthritis sufferers.

many thanks

martyxxx:heart:

Hi, Google arthritis keep fit dvd and a load of different ones come up - then save money and buy them on eBay in case they're rubbish!

Good luck to both of you.

I'm going to be 62 in Sept and on my 60th birthday was in the best shape of my life.
I don't belong to a gym and walk outside and use DVDs.
For beginning DVDs the Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds are great. Four years ago my sister gave me the one mile walk and I could hardly do it. Fast forward to today where I just finished my second round of 30 day shred--in 30 days!!!
I think most people of a certain age feel the twinges of arthitis. The key is to gently keep moving, it hurts a little but soon your range of motion starts to come back.
I have been practicing Tai Chi--there is a form for arthitis--and it is wonderful. I have alwats done a bit of yoga, but now I like the Tao Chi better.
Have your mom friend me if she wants to.
