So I'm down quite a few lbs (48lbs in 11 mos) but I was looking to make a big push over the next month. So, at the advice of my trainer, I'm now doing 45min cardio 45min weights 5x per week and 1 day of 90mins cardio. Man, I thought I exercised a lot before (about half that, with high intensity) but now I'm exhausted. Anybody tried something intensive like this? 11/12 is my baby's 1st bday and I'm hoping to be 17lbs lighter (mini goal) by then.:noway:

Yes, and it will burn you out if you don't take EXTREME care. A higher exercise frequency means higher risk for injury, especially overuse injuries. I used to run twice a day and lift in the middle when I had time, and even with just school I got tired out quickly. The changes you make stress not only your musculoskeletal system, but your nervous system as well. It's really important to get enough sleep and enough food. Make sure you're getting enough rest, and if you feel an injury or unusual fatigue, take the day off. When you start to see a decrease in your performance, back off and eat maintenance for a couple days.0

I currently do 45-60 minutes of cardio every day, 15 minutes of weights every other day and 20 minutes of yoga the days between.
Just make sure if you hurt to take that part easy.0 -
Also, trying to lose 17 lbs in one month just isn't realistic. That's over 4 lbs a week, which we all know isn't healthy unless you're under a doctor's supervision. Even then it's not healthy, but if a doctor is putting you on a VLCD, it's because your weight has become a greater threat to your health than extreme caloric deprivation.0

Well its highly unlikely that I'll lose 17lbs in a month. I've averaged 2lbs per week when not on a plateau. But I'll settle for any amount btw 0-17lbs bc that will get me closer to where I want to be. BC whats 5 or 8lbs over if I'm really close?
Also, for the record, I'm in pretty good shape. It's not all that different from people who spend 1.5 hours in the gym 5-6 days per week. I just split mine up bc my main workout is on my lunch hour at the gym @ work. Max mins there is 45.0 -

It really doesn't have to do with being in shape. Overuse injuries are from overuse, not from being untrained. I have been training consistently for a few years, but I still suffer from overuse injuries at times. It's just because our bodies can't keep up with our demands, and before we know it we have shin splints or an achy knee or DOMS that lasts a week.0 -
I do 2 a day and love it, most of the time. Sometimes I get burnt out on exercise, then I just do once a day. It has proved effective for me. I do notice being a bit more sore. When this happens I try to back off. That is easier said than done sometimes, I feel like I am not doing enough. But I just remind myself that I won't be able to do anything if I am hurt.
Good luck0
