Anyone have input on doing a "colon cleanse"?? I have never done it but heard people here and there doing them.
Do they work? Is it worth it?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!!

What is this cleanse supposed to accomplish?

    Bump!

I was thinking about doing the same... getting rid of the "gunk" that might be inside my body... wondering if it's safe to do...

Talk to your doctor before considering any type of cleanse because often, these things do more harm than good. Your body cleans itself out just fine if you eat healthy and drink plenty of water. Don't put processed or artificial crap into your system and you won't need one of those "cleanses" to get it back out of your system.

    OMG love your photo!!!

And to answer the question above from the orignal poster, just eat enough fiber and you don't even need to cleanse; fiber does it for you. They are just a way to sell crap you don't need but think you need.

I agree. I've read a few articles that suggest your body has many wonderful and complex ways of ridding itself of toxins, etc. all by itself. Eat healthy, drink lots of water, and you don't need to cleanse anything. The key is...ask your doctor.

And just a side note? I've been around people who have done those cleanses, and they can be pretty grumpy!

PLus I agree with the former posts, it's just a way to market a product that you don't need!

Thanks y'all!! Not sure I ever want to do one, just want to see others thoughts. My system is rather sensitive as it is and I'm afraid doing something like a "cleanse" would put me in crampy pain with no good results except lots of trips to the bathroom. LOL

    Thank you!!!

Agreed. If you eat lots of fiber, raw vegetables and fruits, and limit processed foods, you will accomplish the same thing as a "cleanse" without the expense :)
  • People have different views on this topic but (for me) I've done it and I think it's great. Others might not think so. It takes my bloating away and you would not believe what (and how much) comes out of you.
It doesn't hurt and it's not that expensive so give it a thought and try it:)

I agree with the other posts, eat lots of fiber, drink lots of water. Eat as "clean" as possible (no processed food) and your body should work it all out. Just to add a side note I've heard/read that when you do a colon cleanse it talkes away the good bacteria as well and you don't want that.

    I wish you luck.

I do colon cleanses once a year. Generally in spring. I know this is disgusting, but forgive me for saying this cuz it's worth hearing. You will not believe how much gunk still comes out after all the food you ate comes out!!

Colon cleanses allow toxins to leave the body. Not just from the colon, but from all of our cells. There are different variations of doing one, so you have to find the one that's right for you. I tried the lemonade and cayenne pepper one and that was terrible for me. Instead I settled for fifteen days of Tiao-He cleanse, which is a gentle cleanse that lasts a bit over two weeks. It comes with pre-packaged herbs that are taken three times a day. They gently flush the parasites from your colon without making you run to the bathroom. During that cleanse no fried foods, dairy or red meat are allowed. Whole grain with fruits and veggies along with poultry. Following that fifteen day cleanse, it's important to eat red meat and dairy for another seven days. That allows the parasite eggs that cling to our colon to hatch. Then after that seven day period, you take even a gentler cleanse called the Paracleanse. Same concept as the first one. It's taken for nine days to allow the hatched parasites to be flushed.

It's amazing how well you'll feel after doing the right colon cleanse for you. It's also important to take probiotics after having one done to make sure to bring back the bacterial balance back so your digestive tract continues working properly. Good luck!

I did a cleanse a few years ago after I quit smoking. It was not just a colon cleanse, but a full body cleanse. I oozed from my pores for a week. Stuff that should not be in my body made its way out.

A cleanse is a great thing, just make sure it is right for you. Good luck!

Eat good wholesome food the majority of the time. Make sure you're getting enough of everything your body needs like water, fiber, protein, carbs, fat, vitamins, and minerals. Spend some time every day working up a sweat. Your body will take care of the "cleansing" on its own. It's a sophisticated machine.

I hear lemon juice and water is good in moderation.
